My father and I had built a farm truck out of a 79 Chevy 4x4 and am looking for the next step up in years to modify. It is beyond great for the farm and beyond but needs to stay around here to keep a longer life.
Does anyone have a truck modified to help me get ideas to build? Since we have the tools and know-how on most any tips would be appreciated. I'm wanting to go with a Dodge but the transfer case is on the left side plus gas mileage isn't great in any of the half tons. A Stout v6 would be nice, 4x4 is a must, small trucks don't seem to have enough room.
If anyone needs a step by step on building one from an old Chevy reply. At the time we built my truck I had a crappy camera but do have a lot of pictures.

Ok I went out and took some pictures. I am going to possibly sell the truck in the near future. I did have a pm from someone that might be interested and as I told him I am NOT selling the wheels that are on the truck. I will be putting the stock chrome 16 inch wheels back on it.

We thought about doing something similar to that with an old Ford truck. Well I should say it wasn't my idea, as I didn't want to cut up my old truck...lol Step-dad wanted to cut the front of the box out, and make the back of the cab a "slider" so you could slide the rear sheet metal out of the way, and wheel right up to the steering wheel.... But I can transfer really good, so no need to do that much modification.
All I need is a lift to get my chair in the back, and I'm ready to go!

I like the truck lift style above but after trying it yesterday and my habits a drive-from-chair vehicle seems to be my only option. We built a 96 Dodge Caravan along with my 79 Chevy. The ramp van was totaled and just cut the floors out, suspension, ect. Works great but I hate low riding vehicles due to being in the country.
