After 3 months my daughter is finally getting her power wheel chair back We had to send it in to be repaired because the left motor died. They have had the dam chair for almost 3 months now, so I of course have been getting very upset. Not to mention... my poor daughter has been riding around in a loner chair that doesn't fit her well. She tells me when she has to use a chair that isn't hers its like wearing another persons shoes. Not very comfortable! I swear these chair repair people have no heart, there was no need for her to have to be with out her chair for that long. I began calling them about a month ago, always getting an answering machine. I left several messages, they never returned a call back to me. I finally drove almost 2 hours to their repair shop just to find that the motor had been in for over 2 months, and they did nothing with it! Did I bitch? YES!!! They of course apologized telling me they have been backed up and couldn't get to it. WELL ....THEY ARE FIXING IT NOW!!! My daughter will be getting her chair delivered to her tomorrow April 6th. Its been a long time for her, to long!

I definitely feel for you. I see the same thing happen to people in our building all the time. My girlfriend's chair was broken for over 6 months, forcing us to use her ill-posturing manual chair with the bent wheel the entire time. It definitely was not a good 6 months for mobility and comfort :badmood: We called them every month or so and tried our hardest to get them going on it. Every time someone would assure us that things would get done, then when we called back someone new would tell us that they had no records of anything being done.

She had had the same chair for over 9 years, and was supposed to be recieving an entirely new model. We were really looking forward to this, as her old frame was very long compared to some of these newer, more compact models with the more central driving wheels. This would make getting onto buses and anything involving turning in a tight space infinitely more feasible. UNFORTUNATELY, after over 4 months of waiting, they finally sent someone out to inspect her old chair, saying they will replace anything that needs it instead of getting us a new chair. So finally, afer over half a year, they came out one morning and retrofitted the chair in about 6 hours time. They replaced everything but the frame. Of course, the frame was what we wanted changed the most :mfrlol:

Hope the new chair works great for her. These people just don't act like they realize that these chairs are the equivalent of their entire lower body. So sad...

Thats to bad your girl friend couldn't get a new chair. Frankly I'm surprised that her chair is so old and her medical wouldn't approve her a new one. My daughters insurance will approve a new chair every 7 years, regardless the condition of the old one. The chair she has now is one that you mentioned with the mid wheel drive, it is great for maneuvering in small/tight areas. Her loner chair is rear wheel drive and it is so difficult for her to maneuver. My daughter is so excited to have her own chair back with the loner she is unable to reach the sink, table or light switches. It sure has been a rough time for her.

I know what you mean my wifes electric chair started loosing power off and on which would lock up the wheels and nearly throw her her out of the chair. We managed to contact tech support and after a month of calls was informed finally that they had a service rep about 50 miles south of us and to contact him. After takeing it to him 6 times over a period of 9 months we finally thought it was fixed. We had it home and the wife ran it for almost 24 hours before it died again. Being an electronics technician myself and a mechanical engineer I was getting pretty pissed at the incompetence of these guys and decided to check it out myself, even though that may void warranty.

I couldnt believe it when I got to checking it out I found that the seat wasnt even fully attached. As I got deeper I found that one of the rails that support the batteries and subsequently half the chair wasnt even locked into place, causing the batteries to jostle just enough to lose connection when she hit a bump. I am really glad that it didnt work, otherwise I would not have checked it out and found the not attached seat or the loose rail which could have led to a bad accident beings we live on a ranch and things are pretty bumpy around here. The worst part of it was that for nine months I had been takeing to this idiot for repair and he had replaced half the parts in the chair but couldnt notice that the rail simply wasnt locked in place. Haveing been in technical repair most of my adult life I dont have much patience for the average tech. I always come back to a qoute from Einstien "I believe two things to be infinite 1) the universe 2) human stupidity and I am not certain about the first." I believe that about says it all.

Guess I am venting a little on this one sorry.
