hi

my boyfriend was initially diagnosed t3/t4 complete but he can now move three of hid toes on his right foot and has some feeling in his right leg. what does his mean? does this mean that some signals are getting through. i dont understand why some signals can get past the damaged bit of his spine but others cant. the doctors have told him not to get to excited about his toes as recovery normally happens from the left side??!!!!! is there anyone out there who has regained walking where the right side started to recover first??he is 5 months post injury

many many thanks

If he can voluntary move a toe and has some feeling that would indicate he is not complete. Initially, it's often very difficult for doctors to be sure whether an injury is complete or incomplete so a mis-diagnosis is not unusual.

At 5 months it is an indication of further potential but just what that is, is going to take time. You'll have to be patient and you're boyfriend will need many many hours of hard work in rehab. That toe wiggle may be all the gain there is or he may be lucky and get something more.

For me the doc went with complete so I wouldn't get my hopes up. After a few weeks I started moving toes and feet. Now diagnosed as a T-6 incomplete. Walk a little as well.

Good Luck!
