Well folks, my recovery continues slowly. I am back to work, only part time for now. My Physio is painful but is making progress. I thought you might be interested to see an X-Ray of my spinal injury. Assuming I have worked out how to post an image. You can see the wedge shaped crush fracture of L2. What you can't see (except on the CT scan which I do not have) is the bone splinter that did the neural damage.

:D The zip was on the body splint I was wearing when the X-ray was taken.

Mine had Velcro. When I first went back to work I was still wearing it in the car (40 mile commute on Michigan roads). All my coworkers knew when I arrived 'cause I'd take it off when I got in.

I went back just before Christmas. At first, I was just walking to the men's room (about 200 feet away). That was pretty exhausting. I kept thinking that I'd just get used to it, but after several weeks it was still exhausting. Then they added some meetings on the other side of the building and I finally had to start using a wheel chair just to get around. So, take it from me, and take it slow.

I don't think I could drive that far, as I find driving to be one of the more difficult activities. My splint had velcro down one side to allow you to adjust how tight it was, but had the zip down the other side. I had to stop wearing my splint because I got very badly scalded in an accident in my shower. My damaged skin can not take the friction of the splint against it.

I am taking it easy, and fortunately my employer is very understanding.

Actually, I haven’t driven since my injury (except for the driving test in O.T.). Fortunately, I was in a car pool before my injury. One of the guys lives near me and just picks me up every day. I need to get some hand controls before I start driving again. That’s next on my list.
