Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice. Today I'm having real problems with pain, it happens every so often that despite medications it becomes almost unbearable. I normally take Lyrica and nortriptyline. Today i've increased my Lyrica dose and taken Tramadol (200mg so far today and it's not even luch time!)

I was wondering if anyone has any tips for coping with pain, anything that works for you that I can try? I'm desperate :bye:

Thanks

TrinityX

Could your pain be from inflamation? Maybe an anitinflamatory might help. Does hot or cold help? Sometimes I just go back to bed for a nap. And start the day over when I wake up. Does the cold weather or storms effect you? They make me ache. Also the cold makes me spasm. Give me more info. You can PM me... I hope something works XOX

I've tried ibuprofen which hasn't helped, I've also had paracetamol, dihydrocodeine and tramadol, i feel like a pharmacy! I can't tolerate anything touching my back at the moment, it just burns, I've spent most of the day in bed today, it helps a bit if I can stretch out. The weather is not a problem at the moment, it's mild and a bit wet.
There doesn't seem to be a particular trigger for the pain, maybe i slept awkwardly last night I don't know. The pain killers just seem to dope me up! I just need some techniques to cope with the pain until it settles down again.

Tx

I get the burning root pain in my arms.

A heat pad works for me, but be carefull if you can't feel temperature, you don't want to get a burn!

This doesn't work for everyone though, for some it makes the pain worse.

I also take Coproxamol for pain, which also helps.

Regards

Simon

Having been pregnant forever I try to avoid meds if at all poss.

So for pain I tend to have a warm bath with some nice smelling oil, that takes my mind off it and relaxes me. I also find doing puzzles is a good distraction technique.

As for meds eceryone is different, Ive tried them all and find I tend to get more pain relief from over the counter stuff than prescription meds. I tend to get most relief from aspirin and ibuprofen beleive it or not. You just hve to find what works for you really, we are all different.

Hey Trinity, How are you today? Have you got any relief yet? I hate to hear people are suffering. All we can do is support each other, and know your not alone. I hope today was a better day for you. PM if you need to vent...

Thanks Tired

The pain is a bit better, not quite back to it's baseline level, but getting closer. I don't think the painkillers really help that much, but they knock me out enough that I can distance myself from it. Have got an appointment with my GP later, will see if he has any pearls of wisdom to add, somehow I doubt it! I just need to work out what triggers the bad episodes and see if I can avoid it!

Thanks for caring
