I was wondering why the links in the signature don't work any more?

Hi,

Signature links were turned off to prevent profile spamming a couple of years ago.

profile spamming? that's a new one on me. I don't know why You don't just limit each member to one or two links in their signature. Just because you have a couple of links going to a perfectly kosher website doesn't mean you are a spammer.

Hi,

Profile/Signature spamming is a tried and tested spamming technique which has been used for years.

The forum used to get around 15 spammers a day posting signature links to the usual drugs etc sites, so the signatures were turned off.

Since that has been done, the number of people spamming the forums has dropped considerably.

It's not the "Kosher" links that's the problem, it's all the spammer's links which is the problem.

If you want to show your link, then you can put it in your profile in the appropriate area.
