Hello All:

I saw the poll but not many really filled it out. How long after your accident did it take for you to get feeling back?
Side question: for those listed as completes, how long before you had motor or sensory function or voluntary, thus making you an incomplete?

Thanks. Best, D

I got most of mine back in the first few weeks, then it all stopped suddenly. I'm nine months post and still have limited motor and sensation in my legs, still cathing and the program. However, mine is complicated by CES (that's what my doctor says anyway).

Sounds like CES. I only mention it because no body else (in the medical profession) does and it may help you understand some of your symptoms. CES is fairly common for injuries near the L1. I've posted some information sources on CES here.

Hi Dan,

I'm a little over a year post injury and I have regained nothing. That's not to say I won't but I'm not holding out for anything! Everyone is different though!

I don't think I count but thought I would post anyway.

After injury I was 90% fine in a few weeks. I had a tiny bit of numbness / tingling in my legs (more in the left).

A few years on after getting CIDP (auto immune nerve problem) I lost all leg function and feeling, got it back in a year or so but still had the numbness and tingling I had before.

A few years after that had a car accident (someone drove in to the back of us). Was taken to hospital on spinal board, aggrivated old injury.

Since then I have been loosing feeling but not movement, although I am a bit un co-ordinated and gaining back pain due to scar tissue around the injury sites.

I have always had feeling over my entire body since the injury, just numbness sometimes in hands, however I am not walking. I can feel anything that touches me on the surface, but if I get a shot I don't feel the pain.

I was so terribly swollen that it was closer to two months before sensation started to return and tingling left. At 7 1/2 months, I'm still in recovery and sometimes feel a bit tingly in my feet. I had a lot of massage therapy and still continue with that modality of healing. Reflexology does wonders for my feet. Standing and walking as much as I can stimulates circulation, and further minimizes tingling.
