I was thinking of this today as I zipped up my Kate Spade backpack while shopping. Some woman asked if I needed help. This threw me into a spiral of ... do I look incompetent while zipping up my backpack? I realized of course I don't, and that people are just "stupid". But it got me thinking of when I used to carry a purse.

Ahh, purses. I've been in a chair all my life, so the purse has always rested on my lap or slung over my shoulder (if it's a shorter purse). I used to love wheeling around with my little Kate Spade totes or my signature Coach hobos. However, if a bump occurred or I went off a curb I'd have to make sure the purse didn't go flying. There were some times when I'd take a spill and the first thing I'd say is ... get my purse! It might get dirty! Anyway, this all started to get annoying ... and my solution was a backpack. I didn't want some Jansport thing that would remind me of school, I wanted something stylish - thus the Kate Spade light blue one that sits so nicely on the back of my chair. I kind of get misty seeing purses in stores, and women carrying around their demi's and hobos. But I must say it's quite nice to see my lap again.

So, what do my fellow ladies on this site have? A purse, a backpack or something else? I'm just curious :mfrlol:

I go back and forth. I have several cute little backpacks that are purse size (boy was I a happy camper when that started being "fashionable" ) and I have a couple of true purses. Purses do tend to roll off the lap at some really bad times......+ if you're out and about someone can just run by and snatch it off your lap. For the most part I'd have to say a small backpack or a purse that I can put the strap around my waist and rest the purse on my lap.

Back pack every time. More room for meds and so on. Just a small nice one. I have a range from sports to black fake leather.

I am new to this!! Was wondering the same thing just yesterday!! I use a bag that has a shoulder strap and lots of compartments, easy to find stuff. I am nervous to use a backpack as someone could take it from behind and I wouldn't know it. And I.ve only been in my chair for 4 months, still getting the hang of this new way of living! where do you buy those cute backpacks anyway, I'm in Ontario.

I have one backpack. It hangs on the back of my chair. I have thought of people trying to take it. Like in big crowds, I've got an elbow plan for that person. I do know a young man 12th grade, and at school someone stole his computer with his senior project in it. So sad, it was on Quads and para learning how to play basketball. I was the coach, bummer for the whole team.

Hi All

Im glad someone raised this as an issue

I have been using an accross the body bag but its been puling on my neck and with the warmer weather im sure it wont be too comfortable

Ive had the back pack idea suggested to me but am concerned with security, i have bought a plain plack one but also one of those gem things to decorate it with as i havnt found anything out there that i really like

Ive just ordered my new chair with a case caddy thing on the front and am wondering if this might be the answer but i dont know till it comes and i try it out.

I would welcome any sugesstions.

Hi
Funny...I was wondering about this a few weeks ago.
I now use a Coach one that goes around the waist. Ever tried those? It's easy to use, and it fits around your waist do u don't have to worry about anyghing getting "snatched". I am missing my bags, too. I'm sure I'll use them again, but this is easier.
I'll be getting my new w/c in about 3 months...YEA!! and BOO for making me wait that DAMN long!! SHAME on Medicare...anyway..what do u ladies think of me getting one of those bags that fit right next to your legs/? Anyone have any luck with those??
Take care and God bless... Em
