Hi,

I am a researching a UK based BBC3 documentary for a ‘Born Survivors’ series on the channel at the end of this year. One idea is looking at the lives of spinal injury patients and how they are rehabilitated back into their lives. We are therefore looking for a young person (13-24) that has suffered a spinal injury but is hopeful for the future and is making tihe most out of their lives. We would ideally like an uplifting, charismatic person that can narrate the film from their point of view.

Anyone who thinks they might be appropriate or knows someone who is, please can you call me on 02074624506 or email me your number to rmillar@geckoproductions.tv as I would love to talk to you. As we are currently just in development any ideas or advice on the content would also be very helpful!

Many thanks and I hope to speak to you soon,

Rachel.

If you want a story on real survivors, how about doing it from the opposite perspective?

People who have gone through decades of dealing with their SCI? Not to take anything away from your potential demographic, but those of us who have been through the 'wars' have quite a story to tell.

We've had to deal with issues in health-care and rehab, technology, accessibility, employment and education, relationships, travel and housing that many SCIs now take for granted.

We had to push and fight for what is now readily available to present day SCIs. Let's not forget the pioneers.

uplifting charismatic person? how boring, why do all these types of programmes have a person who 'fought against all odds in the face of adversity blah blah blah,
i would like to see a normal person neither sinner or saint going about ordinary things in an ordinary life,it would be far more interesting and insightful
