How do my fellow high level quads cope with stairs/steps when there is no lift? I've got a GP with a (high) folding back and don't feel secure being lifted up more than one step.

Go to youtube and search, "wheel chair stairs". Maybe one of these techniques will work for you.

Ben we just moved back to the US, and my husband is a c-2 and he uses a Permobile. The place we are staying temporarily has 2 steps but there may as well be a hundred. Our realitor has a set of portable ramps that adjust in size, and that is what we used and they worked swell. She gave me the site and we have ordered a set for ourselves. They are not good for more than a couple of stairs but they suited our needs fine.

Jon doesnt weigh a lot, but that chair is a behemoth, and he says it feels like they are plenty strong. Nice thing is you can put them in the boot of the car or van and they go with you.

Good luck!

While I was in rehab they taught me to go up and down stairs in my chair. I actually did a full flight of stairs, up and down. I used the handrail and my wheel, and a lot of strength. I don't think I would try this again except in an extreme emergency.

Try and geta PT (physical therapist) to teach you this.

As a C4/C5 quad they'd have a job on their hands.

Amazing :puke:

I was amazed at how many different techniques people have come up with. I'm sure that if you look through them all you'll find one that might work for you.
