Hi, we are looking at the RT300 FEScycle for arms and legs for my 6 almost 7 year old. I was wondering if anyone has used it. Whats the scoop on it. We are hoping it will help with his blood circulation and breathing. :puke: Thanks Luckymom

Hello LuckyMom, I have an RT300. I don't have the attachment for the arms, but et me tell you a little about it....

It is very compact compared to other FES cycles. I've had mine for over a year. It works great and nothing has broken or worn out yet. If you have a wireless internet connection in your house it syncs with the Restorative Therapies server and sends information about each session to its database. I've had one or two occasions when it did not sync properly but that does not stop the cycle itself from working.

Using the cycle takes about an hour and a half of my time. The ride itself is an hour, putting on and removing the electrodes as well as strapping/unstrapping adds another half hour. I am a T12 complete and do not need any help using the equipment.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.
Boat racing accident July 2006. Still hoping for some return!

Hello,

We use the RT-300 at our facilities and love it. It works great to help increase cardiovascular health and fitness, increase muscle strength and muscle mass, improve bone density, decrease spasticity
and improve blood circulation. Since your daughter is a child, I believe you would need to purchase smaller pedals to accommodate. The pads are around $50 for the set, but can be reused for quite a while. Feel free to reply if you have any specific questions.

I pedal my RT300 about 12-12.5 miles every other day in an hour. Very good for muscle strengthening and conditioning as well as cardio. My thighs, quads and glutes have made significant gains. I started using an FES bike about five weeks post accident. At first I could only handle ten minutes at a shot.

The cost ($15,000) may be inhibitive, but so are weak muscles. Definitely worth the cost to me. I'd also suggest a gait trainer. I just got mine a few weeks ago (google Spinoflex) and I have noticed changes.

pm me for details.

Ive had the RTI300 for about 6 months now and I like it, helps with muscle tightness and spasms for me. Im a t-4 paraplegic and can hook everything up on my own which sometimes takes me a little while. I would recommend it, insurance normally doesnt cover it but if you appeal them enough times sometimes they will depending on the company.
