hi, i was at therapy yesterday and the therapist were having an inservice during lunch. this guy was showing them a new wheel they have. they are called magic wheels and pretty neat. they designed them for people with cronic shoulder pain, and people who have trouble with inclines and rough ground. i can't go up an incline to save my life, but i was able to using them.
they have two gears, hi and low. when you put it in low gear the wheel spins slower than the part you push. it's like a mountian bike, you pedal faster, the tire moves slower and it's much easier. it also locks so you can't roll back. it's not motorized so you are pushing. we all need as much exercise as we can get, right? going down is easy too, i barely had to apply any pressure and had lots of control.
now for the it's to good to be true moment. they are $5000.00 :D :)
but they said they have had success with private insurance and medacaid/medacare. especially if you have shoulder pain. i think it's worth looking into. they can send you a dvd to see exactly how it works. they are called magic wheels. i don't have the website but you should just be able to do a search. i'll let everyone know if i get them.
