Again, it depends upon where you live. In Canada we have the Canadian Physiotherapy Association www.physiotherapy.ca where you can source an accredited facility/therapist. You will want to find someone who specializes in Neurophysiotherapy. Many hospitals have social workers who can assist you in finding a rehabilitation centre and/or therapist. I find it difficult to believe that a hospital would just discharge someone with a SCI and not provide a network of resources for continued support...unless, perhaps, you are in a third world country. My bone specialist, who is from Chicago, told me that the top three SCI rehabilitation facilities in North America are located in Atlanta, Denver and Toronto.

Washington Univ Rehab, St. Louis Missouri (part of Barnes/Jewish Hospital)

Miami Project, Miami Florida

There is a good rehab in Chicago, but I forgot the name

Try googling...In case youre unfamiliar, go to Google.com. I'd start with 'SCI Recovery Rehab' and go from there. If you live in the right state/country with the right insurance you may be covered. Youre going to need to do your homework, well he is!

Hi, I saw your post and thought I should reply instead of just going on to the next one. I ve been a para for over thirty years Aug 1975 I was 18 at the time and thanks to my wife who was my physio at Stoke have been walking with calipers all the time ( i only use the chair if I go shopping or for sport etc) I know it sound big headed but she really is the best physio as everyonre in Stoke said it would be impossible to do what I do. I notice your boyfriend has some movement now really is the time to try and recoup as much as possible if we can be of any help please let me know. regards Paul

I go here http://www.physiofunction.co.uk in Northampton. I know they see a number of Spinal patients, and they have a few clinics here and there. They may even consider visiting you at home. It's worth giving them a call because eve if they can't help you directly they might be able to recommend a good physio local to you.

Where did Ciaran go to rehab? If you don't mind me asking.
How does it feel to feel?
