Okay so, this weekend I'm going to a big festive with my friend and it's going to be probably 6+ hours long. I will cath before I go, but once I'm inside it's impossible to go, since I need help w/ cathing and I DO NOT feel comfortable w/ my friend helping and also once we get our spot we won't want to move.

I was wondering if it is possible that I could use a indwelling cath/legbag/whatever for that day?

And if so, do you think I would have any problems with it since I don't normally use one? And how would I go about getting one put in?

dont drink too much there, legbag should be fine, might have to be emptied there, but could be emptied into bottle of water

I don't plan on drinking very much, or at all. And emptying it wouldn't be a big deal, I always carry around a backpack with cathers & a urinal to catch the pee, so I would have that on me.

Hey Barbie, hope you have a blast. The indwelling def sounds like the best option, Im not a fan of them either so I was farely unfamiliar with the complications that can arrive...be careful not to pinch the line, or sit on it. Could cause leakage. Also you may want to invest in more than one indwelling and test one out a night or two before. Sounds silly but size matters, you dont want to leak the entire time and you wont know your gauge until you try one out. Be warey of the latex as some people (like myself) can build an allergy in no time, which too will leave you wet!

Other than that a slim leg bag n some pants with room should do the trick! Have fun!

Do you have to have a nurse put one in? Or is it something that could be done at home? I understand about the size & the kinking thing!

Thank you!

Hey girl..
Uhm its easiest to put it in just before getting dressed. Its goes in like any other cath, the exception is the 'balloon' that must be filled with saline/water to hold it in place. The way I learned was to test out the balloon before putting it in your body. Once you know its good, empty the saline/water and attach the cath to the leg bag. From there you treat it like any cath. Once in place, fill the balloon again.. and tie the bag up to your leg. Not very hard to do at all. I do it in bed or chair right before I put on my pants. And your done! Getting it out is way easy. Just take the seringe (I cant spell for shit) empty the balloon and remove. More than likely your bladder will keep emptying itself for a few minutes after removal. No worries it will stop once the spinchter gets back to normal. A pad,, as in A maxi pad..can be worn to prevent wetting your pants. Its the only way ive been able to avoid wet pants.

I dont think you'll need a nurse. If you can cath on your own, even if its just in bed, you can do this on your own!

How about just wear a nappy for the day, you can change on the spot, just cover yourself with a towel or something and slip it out. Put it in a plastic bag and dispose of it when the event is finished.
