Hi everybody.

I'm Cat and my hubby, Nico, had a motorbike crash on 7th August 2005. He had multiple injuries most of which will heal, but has a complete SCI at T6. He's 13 weeks into rehab now and going great guns. He's positive and motivated to get home asap and has amazed everyone with his strength. We clinically lost him on the day of his accident and then he suffered a pulmonery embalism on 17th August and we temporarily lost him again, but he's passed all that nasty life and death stuff now and showing great improvement every day.

Looking forward to getting to know you all on here, you look a great bunch so please can I join?!

xx Cat xx

Welcome!!!
Glad to hear you both have a postive outlook. My husband was always very positive from the start too....he was the one who got me through it!

My husband is now 6 months post injury and fresh out of rehab. We have been through alot in the past 6 months. He has a C6 C7 incomplete spinal cord injury after a propane tractor trailer accident. It landed on him after he was ejected. I am his primary caregiver and never thought I would ever be doing the things I do now a year ago. Our lives have completely changed and sometimes I find myself so caught up in his injury that I forget to take any time for myself and our son. I know that as time passes things will get easier....but when? How long is it going to take for him to get some strength back and gain some independence. My husband Mike has alot of sensation and tingling below his level of injury, does this mean anything?

My best pal is T4(motorcycle also) 7 months out... He is home and doing pretty much everything on his own. He has come so far and I am so proud of him!
Its been a long road for all of his friends and family. Be strong and keep smiling. He tells me that is the best medicine!

On February 8 it was my husbands 3 year accident anniv. (Snowmobile)
The first six months were brutal. Every moan I would wake up to, every flinch I hoped was movement. Don is very lucky he remained determined and went to therapy 5 times a week. We did not see much improvement in the first six months but within the year he was standing using a walker and now loft strands. It's amazing! We met people that were (for lack of better words) thought to have a better recovery but they didn't because they gave up. Everyday Don in a joking but determined way says, next month I'm going to........

Don't get me wrong, most of his recovery came within the first year. But faith keeps him strong. (stronger than me a times) I tend to have my pity parties.
He has had really only two big set backs (infections that caused the need for surgery)

TRY( I know it's easier said then done) to take care of you and your son. I didn't, and I sometimes have hard feeling about that. If he says I can do it Let him!

Hi Cat

Getting home is not going to be that easy on you or him. We did a couple of pactice runs first. I signed him out. Got my sons to help me. And yikes, you have no idea what it takes. He's lived for this reunion, dreamed of it, almost felt it, wishes for it. There is no doubt you want him home too. But its going to be a shocker for you as much as it is for him.
