Ok Peep's,

Got a mental block!

What's 88.8kg in Stones and Pounds (UK)?

Minus 2st 2lb.

Ok,

Here's what I make it, rounding 88.8kg upto 90kg to keep it simple.

2.2lbs -> 1kg

14lbs -> 1st.

90kg x 2.2 = 198lbs

198/14 = 14st 2lb

14st 2lb - 2.2lb (from when I rounded the kg up) = 13st 13lb

13st 13lb - 2st 2lb (weight of wheelchair) = 11st 11lb

------------------------------------

I think thats right!

Ok, here's what's puzzling me, over the last two years I've been gradually putting on weight, and when I was weighed back in March, I my body weighed 12st 13lb.

That means, I've lost over a stone in weight since my last weighing!

Now, either my diet and exercise is working, or the scales are wrong!

Be nice if when I get weighed in September, the weight is still gone.

Had to go in for a routine kidney scan today, everything was ok.

Whilst I was there, I jumped onto the scales, and have lost another 5lbs.

So, my weight is now 11st 6lbs.

Gonna need some new jeans soon, my current ones are getting a bit baggy around the waist!

Next weigh in is in September.

Simon :)

Congrats Simon! I really wish I could weigh in, it's a bit frustrating never having an exact results. What have you been doing to lose that weight? I'm counting calories (1200 a day) and working out (crunches, push ups, weights, upper body ergometer) about 1.5 hours, 4 days a week, but it just seems like I'm not getting anywhere. :)

Went for a Baclofen Pump refill on Tuesday, jumped on the scales, and am just under 11st 2lb.

I'm pretty sure the weight loss is due to cutting down on the wine, and cutting out pasta and potatoes in the week. At the weekend I eat and drink as normal.

So, it is possible to lose weight, and the way to do it for me at least, is cutting down on the carbs in the week.

I'll get all my weigh in's, and post a graph, just in case anyone's interested.

Simon.

Wow Simon!

That looks like nearly 2 stones in 6 months from your graph, and a slower but still a good drop off recently.

Is that all you have been doing to get such good results? cutting out carbs and booze?

Hows things like your skin condition and pressure points going with this loss?

Also how come you manage to get weighed so often? I can only manage to get weighed every 2 years at my review.

Yeah, pretty much!

In the week, I don't normally drink alcohol, but drink at weekends only. In the week I also now just have two slices of Nimble bread for breakfast, with 1 large glass of Tomatoe juice, and a black coffee. My breakfast at the weekends varies between bacon sandwiches and scrambled egg on toast.

Lunch varies, between fruit, or soup, with a couple of slices of bread.

Dinner varies, in the summer, I eat alot of fish, or seafood, panfried and served on a mixed salad. In cooler months, I eat a base of peas, carrots and broccolli, with either chicken, fish or coq-au-vin. This varies though, but doesn't usually have calorie rich sauces with it. I also don't have potatoes with my evening meal.

At the weekend, I eat what I want, plenty of BBQ's, pizza, roast dinners etc.

I don't snack between meals, if I'm not hungry at lunchtime, I will just have a couple of cups of coffee to keep me going until my evening meal.

That's about it really.

I don't want to lose any more weight now, and will be happy for my weight to fluctuate between 11st and 11st5lbs.

My skin has been fine, but I have been eating a vitamin and protein rich diet. Also, by losing weight, there's less pressure on my pressure points.

I get my baclofen pump refilled every 3 months, so always weigh myself when I visit, and have kept a record. It's very easy for your weight to creep up over time, and before you know it, you're buying new jeans, and struggling to push your wheelchair.

Since losing my weight, I've managed to push up slopes I wouldn't of had a chance to before, and by being able to push more, I'm burning a few extra calories as well!

Regards

Simon.

So you're trying to loose weight? VS. Loosing weight despite efforts to try & keep it on. Just saw that big change/drop in weight & was surprised at the drastic change from the previous visits/weigh-ins. :drooldrip:

Been a while since I updated this, so I thought now is as good a time as any!

As you can see, I pigged out over Oct/Jan, put on nearly a stone in weight, mind you, I enjoyed every minute of it!

Too many chocolate pud's, and bottles of wine.

I've now cut the alcohol back, just to Saturday's, cut the carbs and junk, so we'll see what happens at my next weigh in on April 22nd!

One word....moderation.

For someone who doesn't want to put hours into training routines, day in, day out, it's better to create a balanced diet.

For those who train and see no difference on the scales, muscle weighs more than fat, probably better to get the BMI checked rather than looking at the results of a weighing scale.

Carbs- bad
Protein- good
Alchohol- very bad

For a SCI to be able to control the weight like Simon has shown, has to be commended due to the difficulty involved

Was weighed on April 20th, lost 8lbs since January.

Now back down to 10st 12lbs.

Of course, I've now cut down on the carbs, and chocolate puds!

And, cut down on the alcohol (Booo!).

Considering your height a weight of 10st12 is possibly about right.
Much less and you would lose some of that oh so important padding from the bits that count!

when i drank i carried 20 more pounds than i carry now. i probably drank 3 or more drinks daily. beer really packed on the pounds. i do find that since i lost weight i can make transfers now that before were impossible. i like how i look now and i don't freak everytime a police car pulls in behind me.
hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!
