Happy 4th to all. Also, a safe one.
Tomorrow will be the 23rd anniversary of my husband's diving accident. He still gets a little emotional on that day. He's working today and will be tomorrow, but he will get off in time to celebrate and eat the wonderful meals I am cooking at this very moment and we'll hop in the pool and work with his walker and relaxation techniques.
Be careful with the beer. My husband used to be a big time binge drinker (
at least 18 in one sitting), plus sometimes a shot or two of something else. Being the macho man he thinks he is, he always takes his arm rests off his wheelchairs and throws them in the closet. This has led to me finding him on the floor many times. I'm 5'7" 115 lbs and he was then 6'2" 190 lbs. I found a clever way to get him back into his chair, but boy was he sore the next day and yes you will get the

I don't know if this is a guy thing or not, but I know it's not too great when you are in a wheelchair. He stopped drinking mainly because he took on a part time job and he can't make it to their bathrooms. Doors are too heavy and the commode is too low, disgusting and most of the time occupied by someone who just wants the extra room.
The only thing I miss about the midwest are the fireworks shows I would put on (well the wineries too). We would have about 25 - 30 people over every 4th and I'd hop over the river to Illinois, buy a ton of cool stuff and when sundown came, I'd turn on Jimmi Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner and begin the show. I would sync the fireworks to the entire CD . . . what a blast!!! I always got a standing ovation

I live in the dry desert now and I hear fireworks, then usually fire trucks after that. Oh well, good memories!
