Been a C5-C6 incomplete almost 43 years. I've used a Roho High Profile for more than twenty years. I like it with one big exception: Durability. I'm not very hard on my equipment. I take it easy and care for it very well. Still, my cushion inevitably develops leaks and I begin the merry-go-round of patches, send to factory for more permanent repairs, replacements. I'm sick to death of it. I want something that will not suffer a catastrophic failure and still give me comfort and protection.

I've looked on the 'Net for different cushions; some mentioned here and some I've found on my own. I have an evaluator coming out 7/15 to go over a bunch of stuff; cushions, chairs, commode.

Before I used a Roho, I used a 4" foam horse-shoe cushion, but a breakdown moved me to the Roho. I'm not a beefy guy, I'm about 6' 1" and 180-185 lbs. with a bony butt.

The most likely candidates so far are: Jay J2 Deep Contour, one of the Varilite series, InTouch Flovair, or the Ride cushion. I've also found a couple other possibilities: the Geo-Matt by Span America and the Cloud Cushion by Otto Bock.

I've read some of your opinions/experiences with some of these. The others I've not seen mentioned. Any further comments or experiences?

Thanks.

Im 21 years post injury and have only used a Hi-profile ROHO cushion. My cushions last 8-10 years which for everyday use is pretty good. In dont think any cushion will last much longer then that. I had a Jay gell cushion and it dried out at the edge and split at the seam with the gell squeezing out of the back of my chair like poop. My suggestion is to stay with a good thing. The ROHO company will send you extra val.ves for free if needed.

My issues with the Roho are not its effectiveness. It has worked very well for pressure relief and comfort. My issue is strictly durability. I'm tired of the leaks, punctures, tears, and patching.

I want a cushion that works without those problems.

How do you get leaks, punctures and tears? Never here. Im up at least 17 hours/day. Perhaps stop having the ladies play with your a$$? Just kidding.

Happy hunting

I have had my Roho since 1986. I don't use is much as people on here. I am a walking para but still use it for 11 hours a day including work & commuting as well as for sailing and kayaking. I also never leave it in my car and make sure it is always pumped up to provide about 25mm (an inch to those metrically challenged) of butt to base clearance. I just wish they would make a roho toilet seat cover as that is where I get most of my pressure sores these days. These new fashionable stylish toilet seats with the square edges I found are the worst.

I just got a new Varilite Evolution last week, and its really amazing. the best cushion Ive ever had I can really reccomend it. So easy to use as well. I never got on very well with the Roho, I always felt as if I was going to slip of, the Varilite is terrific. Certainly worth considering IMHO.

cheers

I'm definately a big fan of the Varilite Evolution too, progressed to one from a J2 that I left rehab with. However it must be noted that the Varilite doesn't provide the same level of skin protection as a Roho high profile or a J2 deep profile. Horses for courses and all that.
