Hi Keps,
The British NHS can't be any worse than the the US Medicare system. I'm not proud so I'll post a pic of mine. FDR and Churchill would be proud.
I need to get my backrest refurbished. It's not easy finding an experienced cane weaver anymore.
My "other chair" is a burgundy Quickie GPV of which I have no pictures.
LOL ok that totally gave me a chuckle!

I've been using a Supracor Slimline honeycomb seat cushion for the past 2-3 years and it seems to be just fine. It's pictured here w/out the black cover so you can see it better. I've never had pressure sores and prior to this $380 USD cushion I've always made my own from standard upholstery foam ($20 USD haha). I'm not into any sports but transfer a lot in my daily doings so that could be why I've avoided sores. Or maybe I just have good karma!!
I've always used quickies but my fav chair was an Invacare Rolls 500 which I purchased after a wheelchair team used it for only one game. It was stripped down and didn't even have brakes but I only paid $900 USD for it and the brakes were only $90 back then. Was/IS my favorite chair but I somehow managed to burn a hole in the frame so it's sitting in storage til I can talk to a welder.
I've noticed you guys all use spoked wheels.... I no longer do because it was costing me a fortune to replace broken/bent spokes all the time. How do you like them over the plastic hubs?

Russ I feel my life just wouldn't be the same without you now. You are a plethora of information my friend!!No no no no no.......... There's a reason that racing cyclists use spoked wheels - they're stronger lighter and stiffer than any of the alternatives - if your spokes are breaking or bending it's a sign of a badly built wheel rather than a sign of a bad product. If you can show me a light stiff wheel without spokes I'll show you a lighter stronger wheel that has spokes that's cheaper, I'm a big fan of spinergies but they do cost and the spokes aren't cheap if they do need replacing (not had to relplace any in 3 years yet). A properly built standard spoked wheel should outlast the chair, trouble is the standard of wheel builds on wheel chairs is appaling - even on high end chairs - I've had to re true and re tension all mine. If you can't do it yourself take your wheels to a bike shop and ask them, won't cost a lot and will save a load of problems down the line.
When I was sporting spoked wheels I was forever taking them to the bike shop... granted it was cheaper than taking them to my w/c service center but still it kept adding up. I noticed people were banging into them with their feet often and possibly I was doing some damage when stacking them in the backseat of the car??? In any case the plastics are heavier but easier to keep clean. I have some spare spoked wheels I think I'll dig out and spruce up.. see how I like them on the new rig... all in your honor of course Russ
PS. Just for the record, I WOULD change my own oil if I could! ;-)

My folding chair - Quickie 2HP which for a folding chair actually rides pretty well with hardly any flex. The problem with it though is its a little difficult to pop into place when opening, no problems folding up though.

quickie2... i love it! the best chair i've ever used!
Do you have any pics of your chair? I love looking at other peoples chairs to see configs and accessories and just the look at how they are setup.
why you guys don't use sideguards? it saves your clothes.
I have a pair of sideguards but took them off, I just like feeling more open. I havent had any problems with clothing getting in the spokes except when I wear my fleece (its a pullover which tightens with elastic and a plastic stopper thing around the bottom) gets in the wheels so I tuck it underneath. I have only worn light coats as it has only gotten down to about 30 degrees (Fahrenheit) and those havent gotten into the wheels either... Although with winter comming up meaning heavier coats and slop, and when I start my offroading then I may end up putting them back on again.

Ignore the griping about no pics in the handbook in the review... when you buy from Hoveround they come to your home as many times as you need them to until you are comfortable with anything you need. That guy purchased it second-hand.
I too purchased mine used, but from the manufacturer, with a full warranty.
