I've just finished doing "Race for Life" in Gloucester, on quite rough terrain. I managed it in 48 minutes so am currently very pleased with myself, if a little bit sore!

Has anybody else done it this year?

Hi Ches

Race for Life is a sponsored run/walk (or wheel in my case) for women and girls, in aid of cancer research. The events take place pretty much every weekend during the summer, in towns and Cities across the UK. The race is 5km (3.3miles) and people dress up, and generally wear pink, the atmosphere is always great, i'll post some pictures when I download my camera!

I wanted to do it in under an hour so I was really pleased to do it in 48 minutes especially as it was on muddy grass!

Been really busy recently, and been struggling with a chest infection which is why I haven't been posting much, but I'm getting there slowly now.

Hi Jules. You must be back in good health to have slogged through the Race for Life in 48 minutes. Cheers (3).

Here you are, as promised, one before photo and 1 afterwards. As you can probably guess the one afterwards is the one where we have got the medals!

We have something similar called "Relay for Life". Anyone can participate and you just have to keep one team member on the course at all times. I think it usually goes for 24 hours.

Just thought I'd put that in there...you can have your thread back now.

Thanks for the compliment Ches. To be honest I have always been small I'm only 5' tall and used the be a gymnast before my accident. My arms do look small, but my shoulders are quite muscular from working out - which I do 5 times a week, gym and swimming. One of my gym sessions is with a personal trainer, in fact I have just come back from the gym now, I had quite a good session.

Well done Jules. I kept telling my wife to give the Race for Life a go. She loves running and has done the Great North Run twice and the New York marathon once. We went along a couple of years ago to watch some of our friends do the run around a lake in Milton Keynes. It was very popular and inspiring.
