Me and my girlfriend are going to see Van Morrison tonight - are there any other concert go-ers out there ?

So far this year I have been to see Elvis Costello, Ray LaMontagne, REM, Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand + I have been on tour with U2, seeing them at Twickenham, Hampden, Millenium Stadium and twice at Madison Square Garden in New York last month. :D

Anyone out there that fancies a trip to Madison Sq Garden to see their favourite band in action ? It was really easy to get tickets for the disabled section and you get a great view. Just contact disabledservices@thegarden.com and let them know what you want. They were extremely helpful.

I went to see The Sterophonics and Jamiroquai a few weeks back.

I currently have tickets to see Depeche Mode next March at the NEC Birmingham.

I'll have to have a look to see what else is on.

Simon. :D

I'm more of a sports fan - I have (free) tickets for both the Australia and New Zealand Rugby Union Internationals at Twickenham in the next couple of weeks and I have season tickets for the London Wasps. :D

My husband and I love to go to concerts......especially now that he's in a wheelchair. I know, I know...it sounds bad....but, if you can use it to your advantage then why not??? We always get to sit on the stage so he can see!

My love and I went on our first date to a Def Leppard concert. I was really nervous at first, because I wasn't used to helping him transfer in and out of a car, and I drive sports cars. It was very challenging at first, but after fighting with the car and the wheelchair (and feeling like I just had my butt whooped :P ) I finally got the hang of getting the wheelchair in the car. Being in a wheelchair has advantages, we were escorted into the arena (first ones!) ahead of several thousand of fans who had been waiting out in the hot sun for no telling how long. Front row seats directly in front of the stage! We had excellent seats at this years Ozzfest, but we had to miss it because I was sick with pneumonia, and it was too late to try to sell them, so I ate $200 worth of tickets

Hi Hillarymcarter

How were you able to get stag passes. Myself i've never been able to get stag passes. I do not know how many concerts that I've gone to that had crappy seats. I was going to take my wife to see Neil Young at the ACC in Toronto Canada only to find that the seats sucked and I was not willing to pay top dollar to only be so pissed off that I would not of enjoyed the concert.

If anybody out there that have gone to concerts in and around Toronto what is the secret to getting good seats?

We just call ahead and ask to talk to the concert coordinator about a disability issue. Those people are so worried about making sure that handicapp people are taken care of that they will pretty much do anything you ask. We always ask if we can come early so that Bruce can get in the spot he will sit and we make sure to point out that when people are standing up he can't see. We always get to show up like 2 hours early. It is cool cause you get to see the setup and everything. It really is a valid issue because once the concert starts you are pretty much stuck where you are sitting. We make sure he is on stage so that he has easy access to a bathroom. We usually can get people to bring us lots of drinks too!!! You just have to be assertive.

ive been to a few gigs over the last few years. We usually come down of the viewing platform because at quite a few of them there was more atmosphere on the moon! the "helpers" that came with the users quite obviously didnt want to be there in fact there were guys wearing ear plugs! Though when we went to see Greenday i even got given Mike Dirnt's pics (bass player)! We always have fun but there have been a few annoying people like when we went to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers some guy thought it was funny to kick me while i was lying on the grass.

We always go to gigs as early as we can possibly get there and if its away from home we usually stay over in a hotel and make a really big deal of it

Calling all concert goers...

I recently went to see Keane with my boyfriend and his mate (who's in a wheelchair). The concert was pretty good but the venue was awful. They squeezed us into a wheelchair enclosure that wasn't sloped or terraced, and the only people that could see were those at the front - some in wheelchairs, some standing. Those of us futher than 2 rows back couldn't see a thing. After a few songs we left the enclosure in a rage and remained at the side of the arena for the rest of the gig. My mate in the chair saw nothing of the concert at all.

We've been to gigs and events together before and are used to being designated specific areas and limited seats for "helpers", but this has to be the worst!

Anyway, I'm a design student and have decided to look for a better solution for wheelchair users and their friends and family at events. Have any of you been to any where the provision has been really good?

There must be a better way than simply sticking us in a wide isle and allowing one or two "helpers" to sit together. Any comments or pointers would be gratefully received.

one of the best gigs ive been to put all the wheelchairs RIGHT in front of the stage. Carers/the one who gets the beer were only allowed into the enclosure if the sat down on the folding seats given to them by security or sat on the floor. It was brilliant cuz we were right in front of the mosh pit!

Seems like a dam good solution to me!

About this time last year, went to NYC with a wheeler pal.

'Phantom' seats left a lot to be desired. Up close, yes, but you only get to see about 2/3 of the stage.

Had better luck with Yankee tickets. Good location but if you go, try not to get anywhere near Memorial Park. Before the game, people lined up to go to the park and my friend had to put up with a lot of bumping and someone even leaned on his chair. Not nice! Once the game got started, though, everything was cool.

The staff in both places were great. NYC cop directed us to a restaurant that truly was wheelchair accessible.

Just a note, it's hard to wheel in NYC if you don't have some amount of camber on your wheels.

My fiance & I went to see the Kaiser Chiefs at the Glasgow SECC last month, it was great.

We had a fabulous view, weren't being squashed in standing area & we got to meet the band after.

Brilliant, they treated us so well. Roll on T In The Park xx
