I'm having some people over so they can enjoy my pool (SOMEBODY has to-lol).

So a bright idea of one of my friends was to do a sausage theme for a BBQ. Now, now people let's not get carried away here with the double entandre's and inuendo's, ok?

So, one friend was bringing some Salty Italian Sausage. They actually come in pinwheels, like a spiral, and bend upward in the buns: regular, for the boring types, and cheese with parsley for those who like a bit of bite to their meat. This stuff is usually eaten with saute'd bell pepers and onions an a bread roll.

I was to buy the German White Sausage, (aka Weiswurst, or veal--it's really a BIG WHITE and LONG piece of meat. Almost impossible to get the whole thing in your mouth the first try, but I've done it awhile so I'm pretty skilled in the art of eating weiners), and German Bratwurst (Spicy Brown, obviously the same thing, only darker. The Germans don't discriminate . . . all their sausages are the same in size and girth). These are usually eaten with sourkraut and mustard on a bread roll too. These pieces of meat NEVER fully fit in the buns all the way. There's always an inch or two sticking out, but that doesn't really bother me to much. I also planned on picking up the REAL Hungarian Keelbasa . . . you know the kind, hang dried for days so it's nice and HARD when it's ready.

ANYWAY, to get to the meat of the story, the only place I know to get these German & Hungarian delights is at the local German Store, called Mutter's (means Mother's). Funny I never try think of my Mother while eating these fantastically scrumpteous tubers of joy . . . somehow it kills the mood.

Well, I got to the store, and wouldn't you know they're CLOSED on Sunday!! F@*K, F@*K, F@*K!!!

Oh, I had to settle for some cheap, imitation fakers. Man, no one packs real quality meat anymore!!

So I go out there among my peeps to say hello and maybe get a little messy. Those juices tend to get all over my hands and shirt, but I manage ok. I didn't used to like people watching me do it, but I've gotten used to the idea. Now, anyone in the neighborhood's welcome to join in with the festivities.

And joy of joys, the buns are either really hard and crunchy or soft and chewy. Think I'll try a little of everything!

Great to hear about your's and your friend's sausages, gbounce, but in the end such a let-down. Isn't that so often the way.

Still working on remembering that joke, Hapa. I'm a little confused on which one it is I'm trying to remember cos there's quite a few I've partially forgotten.

Meantime, I'm trying to count how many steps I would have taken if I'd continued to be a walker from 37 years ago - please don't disturb me cos I have to concentrate and already have messed up and had to go back to the beginning (starting at number one). I'll have the result for you as soon as reasonably possible, all things considering and dismissing any unforeseen problematic events.

I went to put milk in my coffee, the milk was a day past best before date but it passed the sniff test. However as soon as I put it into the coffee it curdled and went lumpy. Put me right off, poured it away, what a waste. Had to start again with new pint of milk. Second time round it was fine.

Okay thanks to my big mouth (no comments from the you know whos), I finally figured out what rain is.

I was at the grocery store, saw the wind kicking up again with all the dust flying. So while I was talking to the checker he and I both complained that it rains in Phoenix whenever this weather passes through, but in Gilbert (30 miles Southeast of Phoenix) we never get anything but a bunch of dirt. So when my last bag was placed in my cart the rain comes pouring down in buckets. Well, at least my car finally got washed and I got my weekly shower in, but my soap was packed in one of the bags
