I hope this isn't too exciting for you?

Pineapple Eva, my Slovakian PA was watching Rugby with me. I explained the basic rules to her, so she really got into it... :)

She was worried the guys were getting bashed about and kept going, "Oh!" and "Ouch!"

Suddenly, Johnnie Wilkinson kicked the ball between the uprights and Eva cheered. :yahoo: She said, "Oh yes, I can get into this game. Give me a pint of beer?".... :mfrlol:

A bit later there was a really big maul, with piles of giant guys ontop of each other. Eva said, :seehearspeak: "I wouldn't like to be under there."...... I replied, "I bet Trin would."......

Anyone over excited?....

 This afternoon we reduced the number of cars on my driveway to two. That's half the amount of cars I had on the driveway this morning.

It looks so naked!

This is sad.
It is not boring, unless the answer to the question, "Why? Was there some complaint?" is. Now if Clara stole them and the cops came by to arrest her and repossess the cars...not boring.
So why did you reduce the number of cars on your driveway?

I don't think I've ever even see a police car around here! Nothing as exciting as stealing cars, I'm just doing my spring cleaning.

Cars that stayed
1. The every day Volvo
2. The Vauxhall Chevette (2008's project) - probably to be sold in the next few months

Cars that went
3. The Vauxhall Viva HA (2010's project) - taken to the yard so that I can begin restoration
4. Another Vauxhall Viva HA (Donor car) - taken to the scrap yard in the sky having been ripped of anything of use.

To day I am off to the Boat And Caravan Show. I have no idea why as I haven't got a boat any more and I refuse to own a caravan (especially when I have just brought a huge new tent). I think it was the temptation of looking at 4x4s and shiny things...

Curse you tempting shiny things!

As an aside, I wish my neighbours would talk to me - even if just to complain! Because their fence has fallen in on my garden (still in working progress) despite our propping it up when we were stripping the garden bare and they've not said a word. Not even to imply that it's our fence and we should be doing it. *Melodrama city*

Push the fence over into their garden. It's their fence, they should have to deal with it. I'll come and help!

You're in a ROOM, silly. Of course there are walls surrounding you. It wouldn't be a room otherwise, now would it? A roof is generally a requirement as well, but you didn't ask about it.

Dont' know for sure, but the deaf people who are watching it fall toward them are making sounds. Strange ones, but sounds. Probably of terror.

Not yet! I've got a better idea of which kayak I want though - just got to go and try a few first. (Oh yes and save up the I want that onemoney but we'll ignore that bit for a while!)
It's been ages since I looked at Kayaks so have no idea which kit is any good at the moment i.e. Dagger over Pyranha.... sorry getting too interesting now.

Today my 4ton of soil turns up ready for a huge digging fest tomorrow, I adore my friends though tomorrow will be a entertaining mix of
1. My darling friend (if I were a lesbian I'd go out with her without hesitation) who pushes me to my limit and then usually a bit more
2. Another friend who does the exact opposite. Cotton wool here we come!
3. A nursie friend who tends to bounce between cotton wool and pushing me to do more depending on what shade of pale I am (in reality this pale makes no difference to pain levels etc but at least she tries)
and a few others that usually just let me get on with it.

Cotton wool has tantrums if I do too much, Darling friend gets annoyed with me if I don't do enough.

But I have the golden key - I'm designated driver to the beer festival we're all going to later that day so they're not allowed to break me too much!

Kayaks, soil and beer. Can't get much better than that. If I lived anywhere near you, and could use my arms effectively, I'd be over for the work and the fest. <sigh>

Okay, as far as being in a "ROOM" goes: how the hell did you get there with four walls present? Obviously your sitting, so there must be a floor to sit on. But, if your eyes are closed as you sit there quietly contemplating the universe and all it's intricacies, when did the walls erect themselves?

So, in short . . . I say there were NEVER any walls, only mind blocks that exist as mental, non-tangible walls.

And, whether the tree made a sound or not, the point is mute.

Everyone says they "mourn" the old them. But I feel like the old me, there was no magical flash point where my life changed and transformed me into a new person with added glitter and new toilet training. I feel a little robbed to be living my new life in my new body with my old brain.

People know I don't like asking for help. Trouble is the instant I ask friends for help (i.e. Saturdays digging of soil) they instantly take over... take over everything. I ask them to help me move dirt and suddenly all I'm good for is making tea. They sit there planning the rest of my garden, rest of the decorating on the kitchen and it all goes over my head. I know I'm in the room but I'm not really involved. I get told off constantly for not asking for help and every time I tell my friends why I don't ask for help (because I'm perfectly capable of doing most things myself thank you) they laugh and call me ungrateful.
I'm very grateful. I'm just not ready to have my head dissolved into mush or learn to dribble.

But I noticed one thing more than the instant cripple / brain dead status they inflict upon me. It's the way that they fuss around themselves to be the alpha carer. Each one wanting to make it seem that they do the most for me, constantly talking about the one time last year they came over and cooked a meal for me like it's a huge badge of honour, or the time they came over and I hadn't done the washing up that morning so they did it.

Am I meant to be issuing little certificates or gold stars? Is there some huge competition going on at the end that I don't know about? Who is keeping the wooden spoon safe for my friends that just let me get on with it?

Ah... the old over-compensating chestnut. It is a bit tedious. I have let the people who feel awkward about the whole thing, drift away, and strangely (or maybe not) other old friends that had drifted away before have come back of their own effort. Can't be doing with uncomfortable people, takes up too much energy. Very happy with who I'm surrounded by now.

Adjust the way you are with them. Let them see the message. Some things are non-negotiable. Enforce this, CT. IF they want to do something that you can do, just tell them straight. "Thank you: I can do this. I ask for help on the things I cannot do. Capiche..?!"

Clara,

It is amazing how people can behave. Last night I put the groceries away and did dishes after hubby brought in the sacks and then pluncked himself in front of the computer. I expected gold stars plus kisses, but got nothing.

I've been in the chair 22 months now and he still thinks I need advice on how to manage it.

I had an aunt and uncle in their 70's and they had a huge garden, fresh vegetables and flowers. They worked together in that garden every day. They had no children but shared vegetables and flowers with the senior centers in town and family. The family got together and decided because of their age that they shouldn't work the garden anymore. They were both healthy for people in their 70's they lived alone and took care of themselves. After the first summer without the garden they both ended up in a nursing home and passed soon there after. I still believe when that garden went so did their sense of worth. They were proud of what they were doing and liked sharing it with other people. I'm not saying this will happen to everybody but get your hands dirty if that's what you want. To me there is nothing better than working up a good sweat.

I'm all for that.  Sod the gardening, though.   :)
