Brand new to posting but long time reader. I am a C4/5 imcomplete but with the ability to pass urine on my own without any external help but still ISC 3 or 4 times a day to completely empty my bladder (cause my urologist told me to). I have suffered with never ending uti and although do not suffer greatly with bad symptoms other than cloudy and smelly. I have had a quite painfully and for me worrying episodes of bloody tissue in passing wee or doing my catheter. There is always quite a lot and over a period of days it gets less and less. I have had a procedure where they had a look see in the bladder and didn't see any problems and as it happens I am going in again next month to give it a look see and rinse out because of the constant uti's. I am wondering if anybody has had similar experience?

There have been previous postings which suggests its a common problem.

What sort of catheter do you use? I find lubricant gels and catheters dont work very well and caused me occasional trauma.

I use Lo Fric catheters which are ones you add water to, wait 30secs and the use. they are super slippy and get less resistance compared to the gel ones.

The only thing I've had a problem with was a bladder stone. The Doc. zapped it out with high frequency sonic waves (don't know the name of procedure). That took care of my problems. No more bladder spazms, UTI's.

blood in urine is definetly not something you should take lightly. just had a friend who was a c6/7 quad, wore a texas cath all the time, never had many problems besides an occasional uti now and then passed blood one night. he got his bladder scanned in a cat scan ordeal and they found tumors that can't always be seen by just the scope or xray's. talk with your urologist and suggest being scanned as well as scoped. sometimes it could just be from irritating the bladder a little from cathing, but usually then you'd just see like lil blood clots. if it's fresher looking, then it could be something else. good luck and wish you the best.
