hey guys..im a c6c7 incomplete quad. ive been hurt for 5 yrs now. I try to stay positive and I still do everything I did before my accident. The only thing that is reall bothering me is my BOWEL PROGRAM. I want to be able to do it myself. I go every 3rd day using magic bullets. I usually can tell when i need to go.
The problem is I cant do it myself. My mom still has to help insert the magic bullet and stem me. And it takes like 4hrs to get me through. It sucks. I want to be able to do my own bowel program. Is there any quads out there that can? I need help bc I have to travel alot for my job and I hate having to drag my mom with me when she doesnt feel good enough to go.

Hi "wheelin", I've been doing my own bp since I was in rehab. I'm a c6 complete. I use magic bullets every second day.
My fingers are kind of curled towards my palms, so this makes things easier. I can push my thumb between my fingers with my other hand to kind of hold the magic bullet. Then you just have to experiment until you find a way to manipulate it into the right spot. It's probably easiest if you lay on your side in bed to do this part.
I hope it's not too graphic, but if you can kind of "dirrect" it into the right place and let it sit there you can then use a finger to push it in. Just break it down into parts. First figure out some way to "hold" it, even if it's just kind of laying it between your fingers, then laying it in the right area, then pushing it in.
You could also buy a "supository inserter". This could work better if you can feel your butt. It will take a lot of patience and practice, but once you get it you wont even remember what it was like before!
Hope this helps! If you have any questions you can always send me a message.

Wheelin,
On certain abilities websites, like Samons Preston, they have two hand held devices. One for supositories with a spring to push the Bullet in, and one for stimulating. They both feature a strap for the hands and can be adjusted/ extended however you like.
Very afordable, and almost necessary if you find it difficult like me, to reach underneath.
Practice, practice, then . . . say bye bye to good 'ol moms!
