What a year this has been for me. First, I've been a C5-6 Quad for 16 years now and have been doing my bowel program 2 times weekly with no problems. I have been lucky, extremely lucky not to have had many accidents. Honestly, I have had 5-6 little episodes. Everything was fine until I had hemorrhoid surgery last March. Before I could go 3 or more days without problems but ever since then if a turd is in the rectum I get the goose bumps and slight sweats on my head and shoulders indicating it was time to go to the restroom, where I can't do my normal 2 times a week program. My stool became softer than normal and very eye watering smelly. Fast forward to last week where I ended up in the ER with pneumonia and a slight bladder infection. They treated me with IV antibiotic that started with an "A" once I got home I did my bullet. The first part of the process was firm but once that was out thick loose dark colored stool followed. Every since then I have sharted in my pants and my stool has stayed the same. The Dr ordered test for C. Dif. but not sure if I have it because I feel just fine besides the accidents. I rather be constipated than this crap! Anyone been through this and have any idea what to do to harden my poop? Thanks! :)

Is it possible that there's blood in your poop? Perhaps they need to do a colonoscopy (sp?) as there may be other issues, a hernia, a blockage, an ulcer, a tear? I wish you luck, I know what an inconvenience it can be to have the accidents. I have a bowel program that works for me (most days), I go every other day. If I eat something too high in roughage like okra or corn, I have accidents.
I've not tried that magic bullet. I will be asking my doctor about it when I go in 2 weeks.
Good Luck,
Stella

Hi Stella, no blood in the stool, it's just freak'n soft-serve. The suppositories I use are made by a Rx for me. They are the old CEO2 (Sod. Bicarb. / pot. bitartrate) which are laxative free and use CO2 gas to stimulate the bowel. They work quite well. Compound Solutions out of MI makes them. If you want the number for them let me know. All I do is call my refill in and they mail them out in a couple days. Your doctor will need to perscribe these. Here's more info on the suppositories. http://www.theodora....y_beutlich.html
