I love this website because I finally feel like I have a support system and new friends.
My finance is a paraplegic and has been for 23 yrs. His wife of 15 yrs left him 7 yrs ago and has since remarried.
We met up at our 25 yr class reunion 2 yrs ago and have been together since.

We both sold our homes and bought one together. Getting it ready for him to move in, was a challenge. Looking back, if I had a better understanding, of his requirements, we would not have bought this house. It's the little things that are bothering me. We put in an elevator and when there are power surges, the cab get confused and Dave gets stuck between floors. I'm able to recalibrate it most of the time, but what if I'm not home??? I had no idea this would be an issue. Then we had a deck built so Dave can grill and last weekend he was out there reading and I accidently locked the sliding door before I left. He was trapped until I was able to get home. Dave is okay with it, he says he's been trapped before (in his van when the ramp doesn't work for example). But I'm not okay, I feel so bad.

sorry to hear that! U don't realize how diffacult things will be until they happen. Especially when you just get a system down or figure something out. Yikes! I really don't know what to say. Besides i wish the best of luck for you!

Same here, went out shopping leaving my partner at home. Got a phone call a few hours later he'd been trapped in the lift between floors, as i'd bumped our bed up against it.There was no one at home to move it. The only reason he rang was because he had to get to the bathroom, We'v lived together for nearly eight years but things still go wrong. Just remember that you'r only human and things will still go wrong no matter how hard you try.
