This is going to drive me crazy!! I have been leaking for days now! Called dr and put me on meds for infection. Already taking detrol 2 times a day. I cath 5 times a day, every 4-5 hours. Have to wear a diaper pad as I would be changing all the time. I am new to all this, injury in Jan 08. Had some leaking in June but went away. Now this time it is consitant. I may be dry one time all day. I have an appointment with urologist in Sept. Don't think I can wait that long... help!!!

Hi! My husband is on Oxybutinin and he hasn't leaked in months. Try cathing more often if you can, like every 2-3 hours. Hopefully you can figure out your intake output so you can cath more often when you have more to get rid of. :D

dansbun does he take Oxybutinin all the time or is it just a prescription. Norma you my friend have a UTI an you need to get to a Dr soon cuz you will keep pissing yourself of you dont get it taken care of. if you do have to wait till Sept get a leg bag. they are a pain in the ass but it might be your only option. stay away from anything with caffeine in it. drink lots of water an cranberry juice.

Kevo could be on to something here... Sounds like it could be an UTI

Norma is your doctor just calling in the meds for you? Is important they do a culture test. Not all meds will cure all infections.

If it's a UTI go to the walk in, have them test it there on the spot. More than likely if your leaking from a UTI, it'll show up on the direct urine test. Then, if that's the culprit, they should perscribe you an antibiotic for 10 days, like Cipro or something similar.

If that's NOT the case then have them do a CT scan. You might have a bladder or kidney stone! But, first things first on the UTI test.

And don't wait for your unavailable Urologist to take care of these tests. Go through rour primary for that.

Good luck

You probably want to stay on top of this since this is your first time dealing with this. You may want to drink cranberry juice occasionally, or if you are like me (I hate cranberry juice.) Go to the Vitamin Shop and buy the vitamin pills. They work just as well. Peace out

My Urologist has me on a low dose antibiotic twice a week with a high powered antibiotic as a back up. I’ve only been on this regiment since March, so it’s too early to tell how it’s going to work. Still, I thought I’d mention it because it seems to be a unique approach.

Same here. My nephrologist has me on 200mg of Trimethoprin as a maintenance antibiotic. Because I use intermittent caths, I am succeptible to UTI's and they can be unpleasant as most of you already know! I also take the cranberry supplements from the pharmacy (over the counter), relatively inexpensive. I get UTI's much less frequently now. So far, so good.........I've been doing this for 2 years now.

Oh, one more thing.........I only have one kidney left so it's really important that an infection doesn't get out of control. Can't afford to lose that one too!

leakage is the best way to tell when you have a UTI, kinda a blessing in disguise if you hate the doctors office like i do. On another note you do have to stay fairly dry to keep from developing skin issues. If i'm having a flare up like that i will usually grab a paper towel fold it in half and wrap up the dissenting appendage.
