Dear Guys,
I had spastic legs that night which was very painful. I was massaging my legs until it involuntarily hit the chair beside me. I thought it was okay not until I felt and saw blood dripping. I cut myself without noticing.
I felt so sorry that I cannot even feel mosquito bites.
I take polynerv tablets once a day but I dont know if it really helps. there is so much pain in the body.
I underwent laminectomy 2002 and I have been far way okay since then because I can manipulate my wheel chair on my own but I still suffer so much self pity.
thanks

You need to help yourself and please stay out from being self pitty.

I envy people especially in other countries who can rehabilitate using modern machines. I even saw in tv a show of OPRah where many people where helped by the CReeve foundation. She was a C but she can walk with forearm crutches. Here in the philippines, if you dont have the financial capability, youre good as a vegetable.
I am T 9 - T 11. Some portions of sacral part too.
The progress is sometimes slow and tiring. Its almost christmas and even how I wish to celebrate, sometimes it so painful.
thanks

I know it is hard to rehabilitate in countries where there is not other way than pay privately, but you have excellents physical therapist in your country. I wonder if you can get someone to work with your for free. I do some work for free too specially in SCI, because unfortunately in the USA, SCI treatments are not paid after you are d/c from homecare. Mcaid would not pay for Outpatient terapy unless there was a brain injury, and some poeple don'teven have a liability case to look forward or a worker compensation. There are some programs in the state that you can register and have therapy but it is really expensive too, so yes you can find people who does things for free. It is not easy, it is not goign to happen overnight like your injury. it is goign to take time, determination and consistency in your exercise program. Walking is possible in certain cases, but let me tell you before you walk, you need to foucs on learning, how to be indepedent in your bed, in your tranfers, in you ADL's, in how to do your simple care. Focus your energy inmaking yourself independent in those aspect, feeding,c leaning after you, build up every single muscle in your body above your injury level, to facilitate and assist everything below your level of injury. Again Walking is important, but there is more than just walking in your recovery ahead. Good luck, and please feel free to ask, we are here to help each other as much a s we can, and to learn together, because for sure you will find out, that what work for you it won't work the same for others. SCI treatments needs to be modify accordingly to what it becomes easier and less energy expenditure for each individual patient...
