My son was married yesterday and it was a beautiful day. I was so proud of him and proud of myself for being able to do the whole day on my feet...in a long, Spanish gown and 1" heels (my training heels!). I walked down the isle. I walked to the podium to give my speech. I danced with him. We danced to the song, 'Stand By Me'.
In December 2007, three and half months post-SCI, when I first pulled myself up at the parallel bars, he ducked underneath the bars and put his arms around my waist and told me that it was ok, he was holding me, and to put my arms around his neck and then he started to sway and hum the tune ‘Stand By Me’ exclaiming, "See Mom, we'll dance at my wedding next summer."
I cried, of course, but we did it. We danced at his wedding yesterday. In fact, I boogied on the dance floor all night long! I did wake up this morning JUST A LITTLE sore, however, (Yeeks, pass the Naproxen!) but I'm a strong believer in pushing oneself beyond one's limits as ‘the body responds to increased demand’. That's my recovery motto.
Anyway, it was a wonderful day and I just wanted to share my pride and joy. I've attached a photo of my son, his bride, my daughter & I on the grounds of the Four Seasons Golf and Country Club where they were married, and a second photo of my son & I dancing. (Sorry for the quality: amateur photography and lousy picture resizing program. I will get a CD of the professional photos when the newlyweds return from their honeymoon.)
One more photo because I'm a proud mother and I love to show off my beautiful children!

I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

Awwwwwe City Girl, I'm so happy!!!!
Congratulations for everything accomplished this special day. All of you look so happy and how wonderful that you were able to dance with your son. What a gorgeous family and wooty-woo to you in that black dress.
I just love it when people share not only wonderful news/stores but photos too. Thanks for making my day.
Glad you're not too sore, but it was all worth it, wasn't it?
Take care,
Hapa

this is really an inspiration to me, i too look forward to dancing at a wedding....my own. i dont know about the walking down the isle in 1 inch heels (lol).
i don't know if im getting soft, but i cried when i read this. I always find something to make my day better here, and this really did it. You're son sounds like such a great guy, i hope the best for him and his wife

Never explain--your friends do not need it and your enemies will not believe you anyway.
