Hi,

Just out of interest does anyone have a particular song they find motivates them. Maybe you associate it your daily life or injury. Mine is Far cry by Rush from the snakes and arrows album. It sums up my daily grind/struggle but always gets me going if I feel down.

Just wondered if anyone else has something like that and cares to share.

"Compared to What "
by Les Mccann and Eddie Harris
album, Swiss Movement recorded live at the Montreux Jazz Festival

It's what secured my interest in jazz and always gets me going when I'm feeling lethargic.

Hmm.. this changes everytime I find a song I like better than the last..

These days its "Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset" by Modest Mouse.

"Our Time Is Running Out" by the Muse is another one.

Thats all.

I'm currently on a Leon Redbone bender - I'm going retro on retro. His song "Sheik of Arabey" is a sure winner to get me going and put a grin on my dial. If you haven't heard it, you haven't lived. Hey, I've gotta go play it now...I love to join in, yeah, grmmmmmph pah ooshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

As an incurable romantic I find it changes from time to time.

When my wife died I played, "I Like To Boogie" at the Crematorium. She loved dancing and that was her favourite song which she danced to right up to 3 weeks before she died. If I play it now, I just picture her dancing, which makes me smile.

At the moment I've been singing, "Bring Him Home" from the show Les Miserables. Whenever I hear the song on the CD, it makes me feel emotional and brings a tear to my eye, but it makes me feel good.

I have one particular song, Gloria Gaynor 'I am what I am'

It sums up exactly my feelings and how I view myself /my life.

I am what I am
I am my own special creation
So come take a look
Give me the hook
Or the ovation
It's my world
That I want to have a little pride
My world
And it's not a place I have to hide in
Life's not worth a dam
Till I can say
I am what I am

I am what I am
I don't want praise I don't want pity
I bang my own drum
Some think it's noise I think it's pretty
And so what if I love each sparkle and each bangle
Why not see things from a different angle
Your life is a shame
Till you can shout out I am what I am

I am what I am
And what I am needs no excuses
I deal my own deck
Sometimes the aces Sometimes the deuces
it's one life and there's no return and no deposit
One life so it's time to open up your closet
Life's not worth a dam till you can shout out
I am what I am

I am I am I am good
I am I am I am strong
I am I am I am worthy
I am I am I belong

I am I am I am useful
I am I am I am true
I am I am somebody
I am as good as you

YES I AM

Gloria Gaynor- Iam what I am
If you don't want to die, your life still has meaning.

Hey Nomis, I like "Ain't Misbehavin" by good 'ol Leon :)

He plays a mean mouth trumpet, don't he
(and Topper, I second that thought, but why do I have that song mentioned on my itunes player?? :H2kOther (26): )

I like Radiohead stuff . . . his mental angishes seems to mesh well with my physical ones.

The "Reckoner" and "How To Disappear Completely"
are just to name a few.

I've long wondered if I am the only one who puts in the Rocky soundtrack when it's time to do PT exercises... I mean, the training montages, the struggling against all odds -- there's so much inspiration for a workout! In fact, I have been putting off my workout all evening because I am so sore already, and that's probably just what I need to get out my weights and start sweating...

When I first got hurt, a friend of mine sent me a Rocky action figure packaged in a box that said "Getting Stronger." I think that might be where this all started. :dev:

I love music so much, and I have very eclectic tastes. I was a musician before my accident.

I've been listening to a lot of Jay Farrar lately, including his bands Uncle Tupelo and especially the sublime Son Volt. I've been listening to the songs Tear Stained Eye, Highways and Cigarettes. and Afterglow 61, among others lately. YouTube has some good versions.

I am also addicted to Cracker's Euro-Trash Girl, and I've been listening to it daily for a while. Again, YouTube has the video and a great live version, too.

You little Minx, you!

That's like the dirtiest song I've ever had the pleasure to run through this thick skull of mine.

Title: Walk Of Life

Artist: Billie Piper

Let me care for someone else
I don't want to talk about myself
I need to shed the light on you
To understand the things you do

Bridge
Could we share a little time
Break the bread and sip the wine
Now's no time to hesitate
Save me from the heavy weight

Chorus
Are you gonna walk the walk of life with me
Are you gonna see more than you dreamed you'd see
Are you gonna walk hand in hand with me
Can you be the one who sets my shadow free
Are you gonna try and understand with me
Are you going to be the best that you can be
Are you gonna walk the walk of life with me

Verse
Losing my reality
Only you can bring this back to me
With you I want to spend my youth
With you I want to live the truth

Bridge
Could we pass a golden hour
Sow the seed and grow the flower
Reap reward and clear our sins
This is where our life begins

Don't let me walk alone
Not now that I I have touched my home
There'll always be a place for you
A time a perfect space for you
Where you can rest you tired mind
My body's temple you will find
Walk the walk of life with you
See more than you'd dreamed you'd see
Walk the walk of life with me

Repeat Chorus

Lately it's been "Don't Look Back" - Boston

I've always liked Boston, and it just seems like the lyrics (here) are very appropriate to where I'm at.
