Hi guys,

I've recently taken up basketball and after a lifetime of rugby I want to develop my basketball skills as quick as I can.

My everyday chair is too unstable to really hammer around a court at my local leisure centre but I don't want to pay up to £3500 for the likes of an RGK titanium.

I saw this company

and wondered if anyone had any experience of them. The price of £695 is an absolute bargain and I would consider getting one as a practice chair. However. it looks as if the measurements don't have any scope for change.

No experience but i think the chairs originate from China. At 600 seems cheap enough.

Also try ebay.com (USA) search for manufacturer and or model eg RGK, Quickie etc I have seen chairs for 300-600dollars.

Well we have them in our club and I think theey are fine. Dont get me wrong though, they are not a custom built lovely lightweight chair, though the ppl who are using them seem to be fine in them. They come in guard and defence, thats it! One as you know, sits high, and the other sits low basically. neither have any real bucket but you can relax the canvas, they do roll very well!! On a roll test with a brand new rgk someone had, it actually rolled better! not that that is a scientific test.
I personally would say, they are great if your able bodied, just getting into the sport .. and obvioulsy dont need to spend 2.5k on an rgk etc. We have three ppl in them at our club.

If your a higher level para, I would say you need something a little more. I would wait to see what RGK have as they have just done the sponsoring for the yr, and theres a lot of one yr old chairs up for sale very soon!!! One of our players, Pauline, who has been picked for Beijing, got her new chair 5 eeeks ago, so her old chair ( old!!!! one year old!!!) is beig sold by RGK, and theres plenty more!!!
Also try different basketball clubs for stock, they have have chairs that they dont want any more, and they other place to try of course is the GBWBA website which have a for sale page quite often, and its usually the RGK sponsored chairs!!!

ps, if your just about to start playing, best idea would be to go and try eveyone elses chairs! No one will mind, and you will prob have a good selection to have a go in to decide what feels right to you

I contacted the company by phone yesterday and the lady I spoke to confirmed that the measurements are fixed and there is no scope for adjustment. She also couldn't say wether there was any dump in the chair. It looks like there is in the picture but I'm not gonna go by the appearance on a website.

Also, the back rest is simply too low to provide me with any stability (I'm a T4 complete and have crap balance..).

The club RGK I used on tuesday had a nice high back and plenty of dump and I felt like a hero (in my head if nowhere else) cos it allowed me to lean back far enough to score a 3 pointer in a practice game.

Does anyone know of or have experience of any other basketball chair manufacturers other than the big ones like TiLite/QuicKie/RGK that won't break the bank till I get some skills going that deserve a £2500 chair?

Have you considered buying / importing from USA www.bike-on.com ?

I dont know the ins outs of basket ball chairs but i see they sell quickie and top end bb chairs which are configurable for different needs for $1500 which at todays rate is under £900. It will cost perhaps another £150 to ship and you pay zero import duty or VAT.

I have imprted handbikes from the USA and know the ins / outs. send me a personal email if you want any help or advice.
