I've been kind of lenient with my bowel program. I've been paralyzed for 8 months now and have gotten tired of sitting on the toilet for an hour to two hours at a time. My scheduled bowel program is usually every other day for the past 6-7 months. Lately i've been noticing blood and mucous in my stool but mostly when i used a certain suppository. So many things are running through my mind. Anal fissure? Stretched bowels? Hemorrhoid? Infection??? I'm only 20 years old so I've never really experienced major health issues. I'm kind of new to this but my uncle puts so many things in my head and it always ends up with "could end up dead." Making me a bit of a hypochondriac. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!!

First off, blood happens from time to time. It's become one of those occupational hazards for me.
Secondly, the mucus you're reffering to is actually the melted suppository, not mucus.

So, what you're left with is an overzealous bowel stimulator, or one who doesn't use enough gel. As long as the blood isn't dark in color (deep red to black) your ok.

BTW, Down to every other day is a good move. The Bowel Program (BP) doesn't seem to make a difference in the amount of time it takes whether you go every day vs. every other--at least not in my instance. And the break in between is kinda nice too.

Yea but the mucous occurs post bowel movement and I DONT do digital stimulation. I was using the magic bullets as they called them which i saw more blood and mucous with as opposed to the 10mg dulcolax

I'm just the opposite - digital stim/no suppository. Have you tried it that way? Yeah, you're giving yourself the finger (literally), but I'm usually in and out of the bathroom in 20 minutes.

My husband has blood every now and then when he is constipated. We kinda were worried the first time it happened too!
Also, the mucous is indeed the suppository. It stays up there unless you digital stim. So I start my hubby's bowel program, wait, stim him, and then wait, and then stim him once more just to make sure the entire suppository is out... OR he will poop out the suppository goop later on in the day. ick.

I'm not too much on the digital stim. Seems too messy for me and a majority of the time, after about 1-2 hrs, my bowels seem emptied. I check occasionally for the discharge but I will NOT go anywhere until I am fully clear. Such a hassle...

Unless you do a "Dig Stim" after the suppository's out, you may notice the residual suppository coming out later that day, or the next morning (depending on what time of day your BP is). So, checking with your hand to clear EVERYTHING out is recommended.

As said above, it IS the suppository, honest!! If your only problems were what you originally posted, then it sounds like everythings going well.
