hi im new to this , ifell down the stairs and caused cauda equina syndrome in march, i have not got proper control over my right leg ,especialy lower leg and foot drop, result is i cannot walk on it ,using crutches in the house and wheelchair outside but the main problem is bowels and bladder ,i have just started using the peristeen irrigation and being shown intiment cath in 2 weeksso things should get esier. is there anyone else out there with cauda equina that can give me any ideas for long term progress for this condition, does it heal or does it normaly stay like it is now? a new problem is if i try to stretch my leg or bang into it it goes in to a skaking spasm is this normal? any help much needed thanks

hi dom thats pretty much what the consultant says, but he also told me there may be some nerve repair /regrowth in time but most likely will stay as it is.i just needed to find people with this probem and see if they had any improvment over the long term, cheers for the reply

I am cauda equina since Mar 2003 and have not regained control of bowel and bladder, no sensory functions at the anal, private parts and lower legs. However, motor function is better and I can move my legs.
