*this one is only for people with sensation* I was just wondering if everyone else here feels like they are likely to have an accident after bowel care. I rarely have accidents but I usually feel uncomfortable and uncertain (physically).

I also feel very uncomfortable, during and after. Actually when I was in rehab I figured out that the accidents I had came from them doing dig stim every night. I stopped them and went to every 3 day and things are much better when it comes to having accidents. Now actually I only do a bp 1x a week.

Ah the uncertaincy of incontinence. Gotta love it. So cool to know that at any moment yer rectum can betray you bigtime. Let fly with half a pound of the most horrific fecal matter the world has ever seen.
Imagine if you will. On your honeymoon, soft music in the background, palm trees swaying in a tropical breeze. Just you and the woman of your dreams in the jaccuzi, champaine, maybe some oysters, crackers and that expensive cheese. You lean in to make yer move and BAM! A turd the size of Arnold Schwartzenneger's forearm comes flyin' outa yer ass quicker than a surface to air missile from a Russian submarine.
How to win friends and influence people. Roll hard and crap harder.

accidents are a lot more frequent in paras with lumbar and cauda equina lesions than in quads. for the same reason they dont have spasms. They dont have the muscular tone to retain feces.

I believe the best routine is to bp every other day or every 3 days. they are reasons they advice you to do it every 2 days while you re newly injured.

In 2 years i had only 2 accidents. but the best way is to know the quantity you do normally on your bowel program so you tell when you're done
