I was just wondering how many people (mostly chair bound people since I assume all the walkers on here can! Although I'd love to hear from everyone!) can wiggle their toes? I gained this talent back rather quickly after my accident and I remember being so excited because I thought it was a sign of things to come. Well, ten years on and I can still wiggle my toes (and very little else), so I was wondering if toes are just some kind of weird anomaly. Do most quads (or paras) get this ability back and does it mean anything?

Walker - I find that I scrunch my toes when I walk. I think it's because I have so much trouble with my balance. My toes are the only part of my feet with sensory function.

I was able to wiggle one toe immediately after the operation. I did advance to wiggling most toes. I also gained hip movement and greater balance. I seem to be at a standstill (pardon the expression now with no further progress.
Keep trying. What else can we do?

Hubby can wiggle his toes on his left foot - just crazy how a little "signal" is getting through. I can wiggle my toes on my left foot as well (much stronger wiggling down).

I started wiggling the toes on my right foot a couple of months post-surgery... man, was I excited.

Naturally, I entertained the idea of walking out of rehab. Had no further function return since - what a mind trip!

I always thought the toe ordeal was pretty weird myself. Seems like lots of SCI's end up with that function regained. Weird. Of all the places.

I cant move my toes.

My man can wiggle his toes on both feet. We were both so excite about that the first time he was able to do it on hsi own. However he has not been able to maintain that. Sometimes he can wigggle his toes on both feet and then at other times he can not. Just depends on IDK!

We are still excited about what he can do when he can do it. Excitement alone keeps us going. The drs are never excited and they act like we are going nuts. But heck it works for us and that is all that matters.

However I do have in the back in the back of my mind that if I really stay on top of grooming his toes and stretching his feet often and stretch him really good daily or as often as I can He will one day get up and walk over to me and thank me for all the hard work...Just a strong thought ...maybe it will come true maybe it will not IDK!

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
