I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what has been causing my recent outbreak in accidents. On BC day I put in my sup, let everything happen, then when it stops i dig until i get no results wait 10mins dig again if i get nothing i hop off. Now, in 6 months of rehab I had no accident but since i have left (a little over a month ago) I have had 3! I am frustrated and have no idea what could be causing this...

Hi ther Mike
I am also C5/C6 Incomplete and I also battled for an "accident" free BM life for 5 years post-rehab. I was in the end referred to a Specialist dealing with bowel issues. He put me on a maintenance programme which comprises of a daily dosage of an oral preparation to avoid constipation, 250ml of Movicol and 20 min. after ingestion 2 suppositories, thereafter +-20min. wait and then toiletting. This then enables small bowel to clean out totally. I am then the entire day without incident. Once a week I do a bowel cleansing routine. For my circumstances 3l of Kleen-Prep (Oral). I eat nothing on this day until toiletting complete. I do toiletting after all 3l have been drunk. On this day, I go nowhere for obvious reasons. I usually eat something light only in the evening. For "safety" sake i sleep on a linen saver overnight in case of any leakage. The next day, I skip the Movicol and just use suppositories for normal bowel routine to resume.
Although this may seem to some extreme, it works for me and I am accident free. Hope this info helps, oh and a balanced nutritional diet does help. Check out the Apparelyzed sub-forum on nutrtion for ideas on this.

It's almost certainly the change in your diet and possibly your exercise routine since you have left rehab, I'm afraid it's something many of us go through and you may need to go more often for a while or look at what you're eating at home while you get a routine sorted out that suits your home life rather than one that suits rehab.

My husband always has a problem trying to get all of the suppository out. So we cut back to using a half a one...and that's def. helped. And he still gets good results.

For my husband, the suppository stays up there. So he puts in the suppository, waits a half hour or so, then dig stims, waits, dig stim again. And usually a huge glob of suppository will come out. And if it was left up there...it would have come out later, along with a huge mess.
