Hi all! Its been along time since I have been on here. I thought I would let you know what is going on with baby Victoria. She is in the hospital for the 2nd time this month. She keeps getting very ill. They said the first time she was in the hospital that she had MRSA in her trach and lungs. She kept going into AD and they couldn't find out why. She finally got better and now she is back again doing the same things as before. This time she has UTI and they think they treated the MRSA with the wrong meds. This poor little girl. Through all of this she still has the most beautiful smile!
They are thinking now that they are going to try putting pacemakers on her lungs so she can get off the ventilator part of the day. What a blessing that would be! I feel like that machine holds her hostage. It is hard to pick her up and hold her and do the things we would love to do when she is connected to it. They also want to put a new cath on her I don't know the name of it but it is sewn to her pelvic bone they say it would help stop the UTI's. All I know is she is only 2 1/2 years old and that is alot to put her through.
There has not been much progress with her due to her being sick all the time. She does not talk, does not move anything below her neck, and does not breath on her own. We try to show her picture books and say the words over and over to her but she just smiles and does't try to say the words. There are supposed to be therapists that come to the house to see her but they refuse to come now that she has MRSA. My daughter talked to her doctor about this and he said that is discrimination and they can't do that but we still have not seen any of them.
My son got married Sept. 20 and we had a beautiful wedding. Victoria went to the reception and she was so happy. This little one started smiling and did not quit until she left. I have not seen her this happy since before the accident. I have posted new pictures on her site. My son her uncle Greg took her out on the dance floor and was dancing with her wheelchair and all. She grinned from ear to ear. You can go to her site at caringbridge.org type in the search box victoriacardenas and it will take you right there look at the new pics she sure has grown.
Thanks again to all that were there for me! Theresa

Theresa I have followed every post you have put on here since little Victorias accident and I am always amazed at the amount of warmth and love that shines through your words when you speak of her. I wish you all the best and know that one day God is going to hear our prayers for your little angel. Keep loving her because I do believe that that is the best medicine of all.

Thank you for the kind words! We are amazed everyday by this little ones determination. We were told by the paramedics that they could not believe that she survived such a horrific injury. The surgeons told us they had never seen such a severe injury on one so young and they too were amazed she survived. All I know is that God has a reason and a purpose for all of this we may not know what it is right now but someday we will. It is hard sometimes to keep the faith I have found myself saying "how can God do this to her?" but then I realize it isn't for us to question Him. I am not a very religious person but this has really tested my faith!
The people here will never know how much they mean to me. When I first came here I was heartbroken and feeling total dispair but each time someone replied to me I felt better. I can never express how much that meant to me. When I would get off the computer I would have a good cry but it was one of feeling some hope. So Bless you all and I will keep you posted. Love, Theresa

Thanks for the update on Victoria, and I do hope things get a lot better soon. Cannot beleive that the carers are so uncaring and refused to come to help her. Hope she keeps smiling at yhou all.

Thanks Cate. I can't believe that this is happening either but we are trying to get the situation taken care of so she can get the help she badly needs. Take care., Theresa
