So, a little bit of fun here to see who's 'up' with their tunes! B)

What's the latest CD you bought, or paid for via a download service?

Remember to keep coming back and updating the list. :)

Here's mine:

Flobots - Fight With Tools

The Streets - Everything is Borrowed

Remember to keep the list updated!

CD? What is that? I still listen to 8 track tapes, 33 LPs and 45s.

Been a long time since I bought a CD, but I did take a cue from Topper and downloaded Smile by Madeleine Peyroux.

Hey T, you're so right . . . beautiful. I do have that song on my Nat King Cole CD though. I think they are both fantastic. You have great taste in music. :bye:

I think the genre of my last CD was Hard Rock, but can't think of what it is now. I'll be back.

Ok, enough jokes. The last CD I bought was: Johnny Cash- Ultimate Gospel

Alot of people don't know that the man in black got his start singing gospel music, and continued to sing it throughout his career. If you get a chance, give it a listen, it's good stuff.

Madeleine Peyroux apparently has some appreciation here. I recently borrowed "Dreamland" which somehow ended up on my harddrive. But at 1996, I've a few years to catch up.

Last bought indicates a country jaunt with Emmylou Harris "All I Intended to Be" and Teddy Thompson "Upfront and Down Low". Love that Thompson family...and them Wainwrights.

Today I plan to get "Solid Ground" by The Black Seeds - exciting local group playing reggae-blues-oceania unique sound. It's a kiwi thing.

Amanda Marshall - Intermission The Singles Collection

First stumbled upon her work through a movie, the song titled "Beautiful Goodbye" ... checked her out in the credits then went scouring YouTube for her. She's ever since been my favorite artist. She is this amazing little ball of passion and energy when she sings, made my heart pound just to watch her. You can tell she is an artist in love with her work.

I used to buy a CD a week 15 years ago, but I haven't bought one now for more than 5 years.
The prices have gone up from R25 each when I started buying, to R200 now, which is crazy.
These days its MP3's for me, but to be honest, music doesn't hold my attention the way it did
when I was younger. Not quite sure why, though married life and work responsibilities probably
play a part.

Being ancient, I've no idea how to download music off the Internet.

The last CD I bought was 2 months ago, its the complete music and songs from Les Miserables.

I've still got all my original collection of OLD LP's, including the original Beatles including, 'Sargent Pepper' and 'The White Album' all in mint condition. I may have a Barry Manalow, which I'll pass on to T for free.... B)

You should be able to figure it out. It's not rocket science and I think you probably have the computer savvy to get it right. If not, have some ten-year-old help you.

Definately my all-time favorite. I've seen the play twice - in Detroit and in London (better).

I used to work with a guy who sold LPs on eBay. Might be worth a few quid.

Btw - Nomis, you recommended "killing the blues" (Plant/Krauss) a while ago, I bought it and thought I'd mention the song again, highly recommended from here to.

Barry M. - Is it ok if I pass?

Nat K. yes Hapa, What a singer! B)

The last 2 cd's I bought were MGMT - Oracular Spectacular, and 2 Many DJ's - As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt. 2, both fabulously excellent albums. If it was the last 3 albums I had bought then it would include the Soundtrack to the film Mamma Mia, and thats just too sad to admit.

A friend of mine who is an online DJ told me he uses frostwire vs limewire now, he said it was better but I don't recall the reason he gave. Spam? Spyware? .. maybe that was it. Might be worth a try for all you shareware-ers ;-)

Just downloaded Trouser Jazz by Mr Scruff, I used to own the cd but somewhere along my travels it has gone missing, had forgotten how good it is. Although I take exception to having to buy things again!

BTW, limewire downloads have vanished from my itunes library, anyone know why?

I wondered how many people would laugh at the "bought" in the question.

The last CD I bought was Polish band Myslovitz's "The Best of..." during my week in Poland. I enjoy going into music stores and looking through the racks for something new to try. I like actually having the CD too, so I've never gotten into downloading, regardless of whether I'm paying or not.

Then again, it took me about 8 years to stop buying vinyl and start buying CDs, so I might just be slow to recognize the shape of things to come.

Unbreakable, the Johnny Cash "Ultimate Gospel" is a great album, I thoroughly agree with you.

My last CD that might be recognizable to anyone here was Joy Division "Closer", to replace my old vinyl one.

you should be able to take your mp3's one by one and put 'em back in IT... (I know - bummer if it's 1324 songs.. but go into the limewire folder and pull them from there?)

I bought "moonlight mile" from the "sticky fingers" album from Rolling Stones yesterday, together with "Origin of love" by Rufus Wainwright

:) Beautiful songs.

Just when I think I'm done with a fading hero they raise from the near grave. BB King. When I saw Clapton's 2004 Crossroads DVD, King was rightly acknowledged but he was old, frail and beyond it, a geriatric case.

T Bone Burnett apparently thought otherwise and hot on the success of his Raising Sands (Krauss/Plant) album he's resurrected BB...and how. To rub in salt he's included Dr John and Jim Keltner in the line-up. Now where the hell am I to find the cash to get my fix? He's taken King back to his early best, as potent as you could dream. I've just heard some tracks and I'm aghast.

But, wait, I'm a simple man of simple means. And the limited wealth problem doesn't stop there. Today I accidently got to hear and learn more of the new Bob Dlyan cd, “Tell Tale Signs”. I'd dismissed it as gimmicky left-over alternative tracks and studio chit chat trash. Apparently I was wrong, it's got some gold.

I want both and am still reeling with forking out for the Bad Seeds cd (good music but horribly compressed recording). I know I'm gonna buy both but I have to put in a few days of symbolic protest and move into starve mode. Excuse me, but for the next couple of weeks I'm going to be mean (but happy).
