Hi Everyone,
I am a level C4/5 quad injured in 1990.
Up until 3 years ago I used a Jay Deep Contour Pressure Relief Cushion - which always worked pretty well. About 3 years ago silly me was convinced to move to a Roho Quattro Cushion which has caused repeated problems with red areas due to incorrect inflation levels.
I would like to go back to the Jay Deep Contour cushion but have in the back of my mind that once you have switched from a gel to an air cushion it was problematicto go back to gel.
Does anyone know if this is the case and if so why? Has anyone successfully made the switch I'm thinking of?
Any thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated.
Thanks Stephen

Hi Steve,
I'm also a C4/5 and been injured a very long time. In the old days we just sat on 4" thick Dunlopillow Cushions, some people even cut holes in them where there bones were.
I tried Jay Jell style cushions but found them too hard for me, so eventually switched to a Roho and find it fine. I also sleep on a Roho matress and can usually sleep all night on one side. I rarely have red marks, but if I do they are gone by morning and I've NEVER had a pressure sore since I was injured.
Everyone is different, and what suits one person wont suit someone else. If you want to change back to your original cushion just give it a try but check your bum for marks. Don't be to concerned about normal redness, which disappears over night; even AB people get red bums from sitting.
I admit that Roho does depend on the amount of air you put in them; some people pump them up way to much. My PA's are always saying mine looks almost flat, so I get them to sit in it to prove how it distributes the air to fit the contour of your bum; although their bums are a lot nicer than mine...
