Well, my "fabulous" explanation doesn't seem to help anybody. Proof: Germans just can't explain - at least not in English.
Well Jenny, you can try it with me in German, but I'm not likely to get it. haha
Actually I was married to a Swiss woman for 16 years, but you still can't call what she spoke German, even though she's from Zurich.
Anyway, Danke feil mol (sp?) for trying, and getting me that much closer!!
Bitte - gern geschehen! (You're welcome.) It looks a bit like you use the "embed youtube" feature on the youtube-page, perhaps? You know - just don't bother - I find your posts work fine. It's just that teachers like me find it hard to resist when anybody asks for any explanation. I'll def. shut up about that now!
Nice to learn your former wife was Swiss. Yes, they speak a funny kind of German for us - but sounds very charming.
What I'm listening to now? Silence again! A pleasure after working.

It was all the examples. You tried, but didn't have the examples. I need pictures. Small words and many pictures. Small brains work that way.

Spot, I know. (I don't agree with the "small brains", though!) I'm really a very successful teacher - you know why? Because half of the time, I ask the pupils to explain stuff to each other, in their own words, with their own examples. My highlight was: A girl asks a question on French grammar. I make her repeat three times - I don't understand. I ask: "Can anybody answer that?" Another girl answers. I don't understand a word. (It was all German - no fun, no irony - but for me, it might have been Chinese.) I ask: "Did that answer your question? Do you understand now?" "Yes! Thanx." Creepy, eh?

And, doublelibra, I really liked the "LOW" video you posted. What station do you listen to, and do they have an online site? You always play interesting stuff I've never heard before.
Thanks.

Hi Jerry
Yes, amazing movie, Williams is one of my favorite composers.
I came across the following piece maybe 10 or 15 years ago and to date I have yet to find a piece so moving.
Recommendation; CRANK THE VOLUME UP TO THE LAST
Regards
John

And now again for something classical - from me, for a change!
Again, I'm not an expert at all. But: This reminds me of 2003, in Paris. I went there on a trip with my kids (my son was 7 at the time, my daughter 12) and a (girl)friend. It happened to be Berlioz bicentennial (200th birthday), and there was a big celebration, with music and fireworks, on the Arche de la Défense (modern quarter, a bit outside) at night. What a magical moment! Unforgettable. Even my children were spellbound. Next day, in the Marais quarter, we listened to some music students playing something classical (Vivaldi?), and again it was a very special performance, all the love for the music and the fun and enjoyment clearly felt.

Wow, I guess it's been a while since I got on this thread. Thanks, qbounce. You post some really good music, too. I have had a lifetime of exposure to lots of music, coming fom a family of musicians. I like some mainstream music, but also look for more obscure stuff all the time. Local radio here SUCKS, but digital cable radio has some good stuff. I have a huge music lbrary and a few long playlists on Last FM, and you can join and send me a friend request if you want. I'm doublelibra on that site, too. Here's that site:

NPR music is excellent and has a huge archive of music, interviews, and concerts. Here's that link:

I go to quite a few music blogs too, and they have lots of free and legal downloads. One of my favorites is Largehearted Boy, and they have music, as well as literature and pop culture:

That should keep you busy for a while. I know tons more sites, too. Sometimes I fel like I'm drowning in music lol. -dl
