My partner shaun has been taken into hospital today with suspected cellulitus,

he had a pressure sore on his knee as his legs were clamping together, He has been seeing a nurse for weeks now and his last visit was Friday,

when she said that it was fine and nothing to worry about ,it had started to weep and smell real bad , he had started coughing and had a very high tempreture and was very tired.

The opening in his knee was two inch round, he went back to see the nurse this morning and low and behold he ended up in hospital facing major surgery in the morning.

I was just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with cellulitus and what was the outcome?I'm going out of my mind with worry tonight.

thanks maria

My husband is going through a similar situation but it is from a surgical wound. It started to get infected and the Dr. said everything was fine. Then next thing you know it smelled like death and I took him to the emergency room. He was admited right away and pumped full of anibiotics. He stayed in the hospital for over a week and I stayed with him. He had three surgeries to debreed the wound. He has been on IV's and has a wound vac for a month now. THe nurse comes three days a week. I havent slept well in over a month. It has been hell.

Now the wound is not healing so we meet with a Dr. about hyperberic chamber treatments tomorrow. Is you partner in the hospital now? How is he keeping the wound clean?

Hang in there! Things will get better soon. According to othes on this forum...these wounds could heal as fast as a few weeks or as long as a year.

I hope in both our cases it will be real quick! Keep us posted!
