Wednesday morning I gave birth at home to a baby boy, Abel James 7lb 3. It was a 4 hour labour.
5am. I woke up thinking, Ooo these are strong contractions.....
6am. Phone the Midwife I told my husband.
7am. Is she here yet, I shouted.
8am. I need some pain relief.....
9am. Just after 9 he popped out.
Now it really was a loud 'POP'! The contractions were very strong but I wasnt getting that urge to push that all women will tell you about. So I just gave it a try and he almost flew out onto the bathroom floor.
After about 20 minutes he stopped breathing and turned blue which was worrying, fortunatly the midwives were brilliant, got him going,. but then he was taken to the hospital for observation. My husband has been there ever since and Im at home alone. I havent even cuddled him yet.
Good news is it seems to have been 'one of those things'. The doctor thought it might have been a shock reaction to his sudden delivery, but hes having antibiotics and is feeding well, so should be home in a day or 2. I cant wait to have that warm cuddly baby smell again.
Will post some pictures when I have them.
Cheers

Dramas dramas. Good to hear it's sorting out ok. Congrats Lucydog, you're a champion. Wow, what a big day you and he are about to have. Big smiles all around.
