:soapbox:

How is the length of stay determined at a Rehab Facility? I keep trying to get a direct answer to this question without success. I understand that as long as there is progress the insurance company will continue to pay for the stay. Somehow I can't get a direct answer as to what assessment tools are used. How frustrating and fierce this makes me.
What is the average stay for a c5-c6 incomplete injury. I read on this site that therapy and stay would be approximately 6 months. It has only been 2 months since the injury. Two weeks of that time was spent in a trauma care center and icu unit. There has been considerable improvement in terms of function. No one has said that a plateau has been reached. Oh my I'm so confused. Are there other agendas going on that I am not aware of? Help!!!!

Hi

Welcome!

Which country are you in? In the UK we seem to spend a lot longer in rehab than in America, I guess insurance in the US has a big say. The information you've read is about the norm in the UK, but there are many people from all over the world on here.

Anyway, if you fill out the bit of your profile about where you are from you are more likely to get a useful response.

Good luck

I was in stoke for 9 months, though in the last couple of years I've noticed the time spent in bed decrease as more and more patients get fixations. I did'nt havfe any fixation, and spent 12 weeks in bed, adn then started rehab. But some, who I see now I'm doing the backup wheelchair training at spinal centres, are up from a week onwards. I guess its down to money, bed time is more expensive than a fixation.
