I presume by now Bricen has seen an appropriate medical professional. Big danger with burns is infection. You don't want that. Not worth gambling. Proper medical care important. And obvious things like no pressure near it.

well he just woke up and doesnt feel good. I looked at it and its not red now its white? Oh and its hot again. I told him that everyone says go to doctor but he says he is not going that its stupid cause he is fine. I cant make him. He gets mad when i tell him. And then just quits listening. Oh and he is way to large of a man for me to transfer around. So is there any suggestions out there on what I might use to treat it at all?

The first time my hubby refused to go see the doctor about something I felt needed attention, I threatened to call an ambulance. Neither one of us panic easily, but I can usually tell if something isn't right. Fortunately, hubby is healthy, has full feeling and pretty good circulation after 23 years as a quad. When he does get injured I keep close watch.

If Bricen doesn't feel well and that sore area is hot, most likely you are dealing with infection and with a sore that large, I would not take any chances and get a doctor to take care of it. It's better than letting it go and ending up in the hospital with more complications.

You really need to get him to see a doctor. I got a burn when I was young and pre injury from a hot water bottle overnight. I never was affected by pain much even before my injury. I didn't see a doctor and the blister burst. Kind of like Bricens looks like it has in the photo. I still didn't see a doctor and it was infected and seeped a rainbow of pus and fluid for almost six months. I still have the scar to this day. Get it checked and if he doesn't, cover it with burn cream and then a soft bandage. Keep cleaning it each day with savlon or dettol or some other antiseptic and cotton wool balls. He really should get it checked. Once infection starts (and it probably will once it bursts) it will get harder to heal the longer it is left.

Well Im sorry for asking cause rightafter my last update he decided that no one can touch it, Thats it would heal on its own. He then picked at it. Im at wits end. Its gotten deeper he has fever he is flushed and he slept litterally all day. Im thinking of calling the psych ward? Couldnt they treat it.

ok to my shame ive fallen to sleep with a cigy in my hand i then dropped it on my lap the burn was worse than that
if he wont go to the docs then you go in his place
ask the doc for some inadine its a non adherent dressing [ antibiotic dressing] or im not sure if you can by it over there
also a couple of dressing packs and some tape
my burn was very bad his aint that bad at the moment but you can see the redness this means infected this will get worse and spread if not treated
inadine will sort out the infection and when the redness has gone you wont have to use it anymore
when the red has gone just cover the wound and let it heal normaly
this worked for me very quickly [ my doctor told me to use it ]

Sometimes hearing it from someone else other than you maybe what it takes. Have someone else that you both know and love stop by secretly unannouced and have them see it. I am sure that the reaction that we all have that person will ahve and just tohear it form someone maight make him want to go and get it checked out.

I think he maybe embarrased with you...sounds stupid but likely. My man I tell him things that needs to be done but he soemtimes he does not listen if the Home Health Aide or someone else tell him the same thing then he reacts differntly. It use to piss me off but I think he jsut feels embarrased with me about somethings.

Plus he knows I am tough and I try to be on top of things sometime that is intimidating. Plus I think he feels bad because he did not even feel it and he thinks you might think he is stupid or something

Sometime I find that man every once in while thinks crazy like that when really i have the utmost respect for him....
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

I agree have someone else look at it and tell him. My husband always listen's to other people more than me. If it's me than it's me telling him what to do. If not then let it get infected then when its all nasty then he will see you were right. lol

reavan84....yes. Get him to the doctor. No messing around with burns. My hubby has had 4 different burns...a 2nd degree burn on his thigh from a leaf blower (oh man...that one was gross), one on the side of his left lower leg because he was sitting to close to a fire pit...we were camping and of course he can't feel the heat, one across his entire lower back from sitting in a chevy truck with the seat warmers on for 4 hours...he didn't know the warmers were on..he was passanger in a friend's truck and then also a huge burn on his left heal after riding in a truck to a Nascar race 17 hours away. The heat from the transmission on the floor board burned his heel cuz he took his shoes off to be comfy.

We never NOT went into the doc. We have noticed it takes longer for him to heal because of pour blood circulation. He really needs to go in and have it looked at. Every time we went in, they just cleaned it and prescribed a cream called silvadeen (not sure of spelling). He did have to go to the Wound Clinic for his heel cuz that one was so deep...ugh, gross.

What ever you have to do to get him to go...he does NOT want infection!!!

It really does sound infected and he should seek treatment, but if he still refuses here is what the burn unit has me doing for my husbands burn though I do believe you need an Rx for the ointment, But any way clean it with baby soap(Johnson and Johnson or Baby Magic) wear gloves, use tepid water and sterile gauze, then you need to keep a moist dressing on it go to the Pharmacy at your local hospital and ask for Xeroform petrolium dressings, cut a piece to cover the burn and wrap it with a gauze bandage not too tightly but enough to keep the dressing on. Now this is in no way saying not to go to the Doctor because I have heard the horror stories about the infections that can stem from burns and that looks bad. If you have any questions PM me and I will ask the burn unit Docs. We will be there this week on friday.

Reaven, you really have a personal responsibility to do what you can to get a doctor to check out that burn. Seems as if Bricen is getting sicker and if he does have an infection, which I suspect he does, it gets worse pretty quickly. Ask Bricen if he wants to end up in the hospital for months or lose his leg.

I don't know if you are his carer, but whether your are or aren't and he gets much worse this case could be thought of as neglect on your part. I know you have written that he is stubborn and you have tried to talk to him, but you just need to call an ambulance. Is he sleeping now? Call so at least someone can look at it and your conscience will be clear that you did what you could to get that problem under control so he doesn't get any sicker. The entire situation seems scary, so please just try.

So I got him up and to the doctor this morning at 230am. I was right It was infected. But all is well now. It was a 2nd degree at the least they said. The triage nurse was awesome. LOL bricen of course was funny. Cause when they took the bandage off he yelled saying it hurt and they freaked then looked at me and said ooooh yeah haha we got a funny one. And like always we had a round of nurses in the room asking questions....lol I am so glad thats over with thanks to all of you. I have pics documenting the whole burn process if anyone interested...lol At the end it looked like plankton from spongebob..
