I am just wondering if there is anyone out there who lives in Cairns who can give me some advice.

I am trying to plan a very special trip to cairns for 10 days next year and would like to chat with someone who lives there or who has travelled to Cairns that is confined to a wheelchair or has travelled there with someone in a wheelchair.

Please contact me...

Cheers

Cairns is veeeery flat and is great for a chair! You can wheel everywhere...take a flat catamaran out to the Reef, and if you don't snorkel, they will help you into a semi-submersible.

I am in a chair and travel alone....so I love Cairns. Also, take the w/c friendly train to Kuranda in the rainforest, and then take the w/c friendly cablecar down to the bottom!!!

Great stuff...enjoy!

Cheers....Walt!

Have a look at travability.com.au there is a big section on Cairns
Skyrail is accessible subject to weight and size imits on the chair.
Quicksilver operate an accessible catarmaran to their outer reef platform at Agincourt Reef. There is a lift available into the water. Only Quicksilver III is wheelchair accessible.
The Kuranda railway is accessible, however, the climb from the station to the village is steep. Skyrail's station is a lot higher making the trip into the village easier although there is still a short steeper incline.
