I read over a few other posts on this board about the Coloplast Peristeen device which paras and quads can use to quickly and thoroughly evacuate the bowel.

Coloplast Peristeen

I called my regular medical supplies outfit, A-Med, and they hadn't heard of it. So I called Coloplast. They informed me that this device is not available in the USA -- not FDA approved.

Are there any alternatives? I've been having more and more troubles with bowel management as I've gotten older. The Coloplast device sounded good, dammitall.

Let me know what you find, similar situation here. I have not been able to find out even when Peristeen might be available in the U.S. or if there are any alternatives other than colostomy for U.S. residents.

I'm in the UK and get the kit on prescription. It's been fantastic for me. I used to have a daily routine that was a bit hit and miss, now I go every three days - result every time.

I just called Coloplast to find out if it was available in the USA. I was told it is, if you go to one of 4 centers that can prescribe it for you. However they say it still is not covered by insurance in the USA. They will be calling back to offer more about how to get it in the USA. I will keep you updated.

They didn't call back so I called again and this time I was informed they still have some issues to work out for distribution in the USA. So disappointed

I have heard you can buy it from a place in australia. The cost of the kit isn't to bad but the caths are around $15 each and they are single use. I will look thru my PM's and see if I can find there info.

Here is the site, http://www.ahns.com....e=index&cPath=3
I got it from a member here called edlee, maybe try to PM him about it.
I never did order one but I have heard the same thing about the balloon's, I don't think it hurt's.
It looks like they have some kind of plug now?? That can't feel good.
