So I was helping bricen out yesterday, when I noticed he has a large under the skin hard lump at the top of his "crack" lol (sorry i cant think of a better word for where it is) It is about the size of a small plum. It has what looks like the head of a pimple in the middle of it? It is not any other color? I noticed it cause i regularly see his behind and can see a change. but if you didn't touch it its almost unnoticable? I told him about it but he has been fighting with me and said don't worry about it.

What could this be? He said it could be a hemroid, but isn't a hemroid a blood vessel? And its no where near his.....um.....Well like I said its at the top of his butt.

I feel like he is falling apart! He has tried to be more independent lately and do things on his own. And since then all these problems are coming up and he won't let me help?

yeah but that wont stop you worrying will it.
try to make him see that any lump, bump or blemish needs to be treated with respect when you are sci and that his skin is as imprtant to you as it is to himself.

Sounds horribly like a pressure sore - that's a very common place to get them. It needs checking out properly.

Does he have a pressure relieving cushion to sit on? If not, get one. It does sound like a pressure sore and they can become infected if you don't get it treated. I had a couple of them and they were in the same spot as you described.

I can't stress enough that it needs to be treated urgently because not only can it become infected, the skin will continue to "wear" away and can even go right down to the bone. My district nurse told me a story about one of her other patients who were in this predicament. Luckily my sores were not infected and I had a nurse come out to me and put Granuflex dressings on over the wound. Granuflex dressings encourage the wound to heal rather quickly but it needs to be looked at by a doctor first.

Hi Reaven
This sounds like a sinus cyst. if is at the base of the bum. i e coyxs. they can become infected, and are painful. Anyone can get them. they usual operate and cut it out, leaving an open hole that will need packing, and it can re-accur often, my daughter also has this sometimes, never had the op, as they are not always successful, so treats it herself carefully, not sure how, but when it comes to a head she burst it, sometimes just a very hard lump, that som best of luck
Catretimes goes away for a while, it is a bit like an abcess. Think you should get a doctor or nurst to look at it, and try to not get any further infection with it.
all the best
Cate
