I am not quite sure what your asking. Are you asking if a person suctions others when their are healthy instead of doing it yourself? I help take care of my 2 year old granddaughter who is now a quad and has a trach. I help my daughter care for her. When needed I suction her. We do it when needed and she usually lets us know by making weird faces. I then will feel her chest to see if I feel anything rolling around or I will put my ear to her chest and listen for congestion. I hope this answered your question???? Theresa

hmmmm? when fresh out of rehab, i had my tracky in for about 7 months there after. anyhow i was a heavy smoker (pre-injury) which caused for lots of suction. at least 8 to 10 times on a good day. i'd lose count on a bad day.
i really feel for u bc i hate the way that suction machine takes ur breath away and makes me gag.. not fun

I have had a trach in for the last 13 years and I would say, on average, I'm suctioned about 4-5 times a day when healthy. When not healthy, such as a couple weeks ago when I had a lung infection, that number can go up to about 20 times a day.
