Hi,

I know of a few people who blew their compensation after a few years living beyong their means. A couple of others were taken to the cleaners bt ex spouses.

So I was wondering, has anyone else here blown their compo?

I just wish I could hurry up and get mine. I am at just over 2 years and a court date that has been moved twice already. I had to sell my house and live in a crackerjack size house, and i have screwed all the walls up.... When I do get my money all i need is a motorcycle that is made for me....

The judge will look at the situation and decide what is fair. He will take into consideration how much it will cost for a paralyzed individual to live. You can bring in a specialist that can tell the judge how much money it costs to pay for a lifetime of paralysis and then you can bring in a doctor who can explain why he can't work anymore.

Anyway, back to subject, I wish we would get our compensation too. So far, we only got a state compensation check. It was enough to pay for a new car which we really needed. Worker's compensation pays for all of husband's medical bills and any extra that he needs. They still haven't finished our house and they have stopped paying the medical bills. As of yesterday, we had been turned over to 3 collection agencies because of comp not paying the bill on time. I'm sick and tired of them! I wish we had money to blow!!!!

When we do get our money we have a plan. We are going to build our dream home and buy 100 acres of land to plant timber on. The rest is going to be split between our IRA and an account for our (future) children.

I've got a case going through the legal process at the moment but I'm not very hopeful. I know someone that has spent his (limited) compensation payment on sking all winter for the last 10 years. Seems like a good use of the money.

I don't get any compensation. Mine was an accident and there was no one to sue. I only had work insurance that brings in a pittance per month. I only wish I could buy a converted van or something to help get me around.

I also have no compensation. Man oh man that was hard when I first got injured.
Monthly disabilities cheques were just enough to get you by. Once I finally got my shit together and went back to school and then finally landing a job, life got a so much better. Though it would of been nice to be able to have some compensation coming to me. Oh well life can be a bitch at times.

I have about 750,000 out there in unpaid med. bills. I think it is so mest up that you get hurt at work and you have collection places calling you asking for money. My wife went to allergy doc and they turned down the insurence claim and said it was workers comp. she don't even have a F***ing job......
so we just wait.
I like your idea about timber, my big idea is subdivsions, By up some acrege and just throw the houses on the land. I guess we all have big dreams......just can't walk......

Well, here is the deal with Timber. You buy 1000 acres and divide it into 50 acre tracks. Every year you plant trees on one of the tracks (50 acres). By the time you get done planting the last track, it is time to cut the the first track that you planted and then replant more trees. It takes 20 years to get the cycle going, but once you do, you get a continual income every year from cutting 1 track a year. Perfect for for someone our age because by the time you get to start cutting, it is time to send kids to college, etc. Then, you have additional income after you retire.
